Oktoberfest 2009 flotsam and jetsam

I had my first Oktoberfest experience at 6:30 this morning - a group of young people (judging by their voices) passed the house laughing and joking (and smoking, I could smell it). How did I know that they were Wiesn-bound if I was still snuggled up in bed with the blinds down? One of them gave a cheery Bavarian "Yoooo-hoo-hoo!" and smacked a sturdy leather-clad something, I suspect his own thigh, whereupon they clinked their beer-bottles and continued towards the U-Bahn.
Downside: I've been awake ever since.

Mr.Moonboots train got into Hauptbahnhof at 7.05 am this morning. he reports the station was jam-packed with Fest-goers, some even already drunk! thats dedication for you!

does anybody else feel like this oktoberfest is kind of "empty"? seriously, last year took me more than 10 min to walk from the u bahn station to the first tent and now...not so many ppl, easily to find a place inside or outside to drink a beer...

You say that like it's a bad thing?

Yesterday evening, around 7.30pm, I managed to access no less than three tents - Ammer, Fischer Vroni, Hippodrom - without any problem; although Schottenhamel's front entry was closed I got in the back just fine around 3pm.

I took the S-Bahn home on Sunday 9:30 pm and today round 9 pm. Almost empty, almost no drunks in the city as well as boarding at Ostbahnhof.
Tomorrow, I will be one of the missing drunks after the company-do at the Wiesn.

I think you hit the nail on the head though... last year you didn't really sit outside as the weather was significantly colder and rainier.

Must have a had a couple as I managed to get on the U-Bahn going in the wrong direction going home.
Well I say "home" in the loosest sense as I went out for a few absacker and the traditional post Bräurosl gentlemans excuse me
and didn't get home till 4:30

Slept 12 hours on Sunday. All that standing and waiting and drinking and picture taking... phew! I was wiped.

Yep. They do that.

Thing is, I'm itching to go back Won't be able to til this weekend again, though thankfully (nor so much for my wallet) the au pair family will be out of town next week. Wahay!
