greetings berlininators

i just got my visa and it's time to create. i am a sculptor who works in welded steel. i'm setting up a very simple workshop just north of hauptbahnhof. what i need now is scrap steel (preferably free, 2nd choice is cheap, 3rd choice would be gouge-me-priced). have you seen a dumpster near you filled with steel? do you work for or know of any machine shops that have scrap bins?

requirements: mild steel only, no stainless, not painted or galvanized, no aluminum, no cast iron.
preferences: small to medium bits (both for transport and the way i work), repetitive small shapes cut off in the process, not really looking for things that have recognizable shapes (hammer/rake/shovel heads for example), but open to whatever at this point; can be sheet, plate, rod, pipe, bar, or just random chunks

pointing me in the direction of tacheles or other places that consume steel artistically is probably less helpful, but if you have a specific contact who is kind, then let me know.

my german is decent, so if you have leads that require some fluency, fire away.
