Hey All,
Just had a bill through asking for more money for our electric (N-Ergie) for the last 3 months. We've been paying a set amount about 45euros a month. They' just sent a bill asking for 106 euros extra for June - August. Does this sound right??
My wife and I live in a 85m2 apartment. (And we're not growing plants )
What are you guys roughly paying a month for your sized apartment?
Cheers

Not Surprising- I live in a 67sq.m apartment, electric water heater, cost me 147 euros per month last year which I have been able to reduce to 106 euros this year. So you are lucky!! But before that, depends on where you live and the kind of apartment - Because I've heard new ones does not cost much on Electricity because they are constructed that way and Old ones, if not insulated properly, will milk you and me!!

You pay your own heat? My heat is supposedly included but I do have electric water heaters in the bathroom and kitchen. I'm starting to get worried about back charges now.

Yeah they told me I have to pay 65 euros a month for my 56qm place, I dont' have a dishwasher, and I haven't had to use the heaters yet, and I just now bought a washing machine which I will only use once a week, So i'm hoping that at the end of the year they will owe me some money back lol, for real I think it's kind of weird that they just assume a certain amount for you and say that's what you have to pay them for the year then they will actually determine what it is you did use at the end of the year. oh the things we love about Germany.
I have an electric water heater, how much does that drain in usage? I mean it's always on, and i have the temp set to like 40 i think.

This is only for electrical appliances. Heating and water included in the rent we pay.
So Lighting, dishwasher, tv, console, laptop, oven.

OH yeah, forgot about the shower - thats runs off an electric water heater that we turn on when we use it.
Maybe shorter cooler showers from now on!

Tankless water heaters (the most common type) don't use any power when the hot water isn't running, but they will draw about 18,000 Watts while the shower is running. That's about 4€/hr.

Impossible. We have 240 V and max 16 Ampere fuses. Power is voltage mulitplied by amperage. So the maximum power it can provide is 3840 Watts.
And you don´t have a 380V power line for your water heater.

Tankless water heaters (durchlauferhitzer) always use 380V and they're typically fused at 3 x 25A (=28500W).

I happen to have the cover of mine laying around since my friends dad who hooked it up didn't put it back on and it says 400V 3~ 21kW 31A. He hooked it up where the stove is hooked up.
