I have read a few of your posts and you seem to have been in a similar situation I am now. I am considering a DoD contractor position there. They offer shipping of my furniture in a 40 foot crate. IF my car will fit, then it will go in there. They will pay for my plane ticket, and 7 nights of lodging and will advance me up to $1500. I will be bringing my teenage daughter and if I get in on this contract they do pay for her schooling. I am considering bringing my 2 cats as well. SInce I will have SOFA status, I do get commissary and BX priveleges but not the loaner furniture.

HOw long did it take your stuff to arrive after you had it shipped? I ask because since my company only pays for 7 nights of lodging, if my stuff does not make it in country then I will need temporary (furnished) lodging. I also worry about not having the German washer/dryer/fridge. Are there laudromats there I could use in the interim? I obviously would need a fridge right away, but the washer/dryer can wait as long as I have a laundromat.

How hard was it to ship your dogs? And how difficult was it to find a place that accepted your pets? I did do some research on here for shipping pets but wondered if you had any additional bits of info I may need to know.
