I wonder if someone would get a similar reaction when asking if a restaurant offers kosher food.
If you'd prefer the intellectual discussion, we can have a nice little dialog about why it's perfectly acceptable for someone to expect a business in a foreign country to cater to his religious whims and provide for a particular dietary wish while at the same time using that exact same excuse to deny someone else a particular dietary wish.
Most Western countries also like to think of themselves as more liberal, tolerant, and open-minded than Muslim countries, so I personally think it makes perfect sense for a Muslim to get halal food in Germany while a German may have a hard time getting pork in a Muslim country. And asking if this-and-this is the case because they heard about it from someone is hardly expecting something.
