Anyone fancy a bet & get together this Saturday for the Grand National?
I am sure that GM's or the Arc will show the race, it will be on BBC1.
The final list of runners will be available tomorrow.

Note that the Grand National kick off has been delayed until 4.10pm UK time 'cos BBC is showing another horse getting spliced a little earlier in the day.

YES!
Colonel Rayburn and Longshanks for me - 16/1 but come a long way down.
Where would be the best place to view it, anyone?

Somewhere close to a bookies.
The Arc

The Arc is definitely showing it and we may be running a sweepstake if there's enough interest

Plus I think there is a bookies right round the corner as well.
Apparently Camilla just got odds at 16/1

Cool, so is it
The Arc or GM's now?
Although I refuse to bet on "it takes time" or "just in debt", sounds really crap!

Jason will be running a sweepstake, pick a horse out of a hat and pay 5€, first four places win proceeds
anyone who wants to watch the wedding can also do so, we will also be running a sweepstake on whether or not they actually make it to the altar...

This sounds like a plan. I haven't had a bet on this race for about 3 years but it used to be like a religion for me ever since my dad put his faith in my top tip of West Tip for the GN way back in 1986 (I think) gambling a whopping 9p each way on my behalf. It returned ₤1.98 (at 16-1 no less!!) of which I saw about 40p. I was chuffed at the time but in hindsight I got done up like a kipper. Time to pick my new West Tip and get my 18p ready...

Have had betting wins twice on this race, Seagram (something like 32-1) and West Tip (£10 on to win whoo hoo), so made me smile to see that name again.
Forest Gunner seems to be most likely to get my cash this year (always back a horse for this race at about those odds, well I do at least).

Isn't Forest Gunner the one with the woman jockey?

after longshanks pulled out like a donkey, i've putting my hard earned on Colonel Rayburn, Strong Resolve and Forest Gunner. Without sounding sexist, a female jockey on Forest Gunner may be a disadvantage, but the horse looks solid.

Topsy, aye it is. Probably the shortest priced woman rider ever.
Carrie Ford is the rider and although the horse has never been around the National, she won the Fox Hunters' Chase and the won on the National course in the Grand Sefton Chase last November (according to the Guardian, BBC playing up for me at the moment).
Hence, it isn't just an emotional backing, it might actually win and certainly worth an eachway (am trying to sound like I have some idea about this but this is the only race I ever bet on ha ha).

I like the name of strong resolve, or perhaps l'aventure (although that's bound to be one who dodges the fences).
Can we still do those bets "each way", when they can come first or second? And the one where you can bet on a few different horses in one bet? Haven't bet in 10 years, since my dad (family bookie) died...

Innox and Clan Royal in the sweepstake for me - I'm hoping that since the race is on the day of the Royal Wedding this might be some kind of portent - I remember Party Politics winning it in the election year a few years back...

Remember - French horses don't win the national. That helps rule out half the field and then forget about those over 11st. Just 17 to choose from now for me! What time are people planning to get to
The Arc by?

if we're using the German system I presume there will be 3 hours' of bureaucracy to clear before making a bet.. better meet for breakfast...
