Thanks Tom and Blimey for the bikes (and the beer

)! This should be fun. Note to self - do not get smashed tonight! I refuse to wear any type of clothing that makes me look as if I'm wearing adult diapers, so bike pants are out.
Oh, and I promised to shame Katrina into keeping her vow to come along, so here goes;
@Katrina, you must cycle tomorrow or remain an unsporting dweeb forever. The chickies that rule have decreed fat thighs, sagging bottoms, war, famine and floods for all who do not attend.

cycling for a few hours can be tough on our special places too...
Ohhh yes it can. Be prepared for sore bums and numb specials

Kat you may very well wish you wore diapers in the end hehe.
No probs for the bikes...have a great time...and let me know which biergarten to hobble to when y'all head back

yeah, at the risk of monkey ass, I may wear mine under my pants...
numb special indeed!

Here's a dumb question from a noobee
why are cycling shorts better than normal comfy trousers?
I was just gonna wear my trousers i wear to the gym, or my capoeira trousers.. ie cotton or polyester. does it matter which material u wear?
the only thing i can see tight lycra shorts good for is to streamline the wind.. but how does it make it easier on your backside?
I don't have any cycling shorts, so no fear I'll turn up in any

but if it's worth it to invest in some..
i am familiar with the pain that comes from riding lots ouchy

cycling shorts/pants have padding in the ass and crotch area, thus the feeling that you're wearing a diaper. they don't actually have to be lycra (though mine are), but most are for the, theoretically, added streamline effect.
Blimeygirl
Apr 15 2005, 10:31 am
Angel cycling pants & shorts have a special padded section for your delicates. They can be a lycra kind...or just plain cotton...it really depends on what you like. The padded section can also be removeable (some just velcro in place) or permanent. They make a BIG difference...I have cycled with normal...and for long distances I really prefer to wear the padding (adult diapers or not hehe).
You can also just get cycling underwear which you can wear under normal pants.
I would recommend if you wear some baggy trousers that you get a clip for your pant leg. I find pant legs often get caught and quite greasy (also another good reason for streamlined wear).
Edit: I need to learn to use less words in my life

Apr 15 2005, 10:33 am
The lycra also seems to wick any sweat straight away from your skin and it eveporates quickly... Basically you dont get as uncomfy in them because of this..
But for me the main reason I like bike shorts is cos of the bum padding

Now.. you can get bike shorts with the pading that look like normal shorts. Thats how you get the bike shorts without looking so silly

Ahh the mystery of the cycling shorts is explained to me! They do sound comfy, but pretty ugly hehe. Nevermind, maybe next time I'll buy some. I'm actually off work ill today, so won't make it to a shop to buy some. I really hope I can make it tomorrow. I just about have enough energy to sit at the computer right now, can't even imagine walking or cycling outside :S

just a tip for the ladies, have sex before you go biking. your netherregions won't be prone to any noticable stimulation after you get back. okay, if we're just biking down to the next beer garden, then maybe not such a problem. they actually have special saddles designed to release the pressure from that area down there.
p.s. i have bike pants with the capri-pant style option.

The Pre Ride Sex Orgy, will be held Behind the Isargrill from 1100-1145
hmm. Saw the sex advice too late. Ignored all men and went home early last night so as to be up and fresh this morning.

Well, I guess sexlessness will not be a problem this weekend. Still wondering what to wear. Have heard jeans are a bad idea, and my daughter seems to have made off with my sports pants...
butterbean
Apr 16 2005, 8:29 am
yeah, the seams on jeans will make a long ride more uncomfortable. No soft cotton pants? Would lend you some but I'm not as, um, diminutive as you are...
despite the advice for a simple bike ride getting lengthy and silly (am so going to give elf shit), might want to remember sunscreen as well as forgoing any moisturizers that have alpha hydrox in them as they make your skin more sensitive to sun.

am not wandering round the house looking for something suitable to use to tie the legs of my trousers tight
hmm laccy band.. cable wrap.. bobble..

Thanks Shaggy for organising today! Can't believe I actually cycled 30km in 1 day (incl. back home)... certainly gonna go cycling more so it's not such a shock to the system next time

Had lots of fun and it was nice meeting everyone.
Shaggy - gonna put the photos up in the gallery? Did you get one of all the Mass Weissbier?
Went out this evening to a friend's and riding back on the Harley was painful on every bump I yelled OW! hehe

(provided your arms aren't sore and you can actually raise anything)
Tom did 50k yesterday and he was off out for the Sunday road cycle this morning. He's a mad man! (not quite as mad as a Harley ride after a long cycle...ouchie!)

@elfenstar, ahem. Which one is you and which is Karen? Need to know which side of the photo to ogle

Both are oglicious, but in different ways, y'know? I'd recommend to print out the photo A4-sized, fold down the middle, and ogle at one or the other, depending on the mood. On the other hand, that sounds a bit freaky.
