The German federal election is only a short way away now. It is scheduled for Sunday September 27, 2009.

Although most of us can't vote you might like to see which party best reflects your wishes if you could.

Just answer 25 questions about German politics and society and hey presto, it compares your opinions with the parties.

If I remember correctly, at the last election, quite a few people were surprised at the answers they got.

Here's the link, have fun:

My boss would faint if he saw my results.
There's an English version as well.

Interesting results, good post. Now at least i know who to vote for (if i had the chance).

MT, minor detail but you can link to it through The Speigel as well, and that one was 38 questions rather than 25.

No surprises with my results, though.

If I had an educated GUESS, the result for TTers would turn out to be the Greens,
with a surprised but significant minority for the Linkspartei.

My results:

1. CDU
2. Familienpartei
3. DVU

Jesus. I´ve never voted for any of these 3

Grüne once again

Be sure to check also the minor parties
Just keep the best result ticked and then work through all parties.
MrNosey
CDU/CSU and REP tied with Rentner-Partei close behind.

MonksTown, I doubt the Greens would be in the majority with ex-pats on this board. Even German conservatives are pretty left-wing for people from most english-speaking countries.

I agree totally. We don´t even have a big conservative party. There are a few in the CDU but the party itself has become "SPD-light".

eh???? I would have said that it was SPD that had become CDU-lite. I find myself as a long time Labour member from the UK well to the left of the SPD here. The only thing that divides the CDU from the UK conservatives at the moment is the Europe issue as far as I can see.

I would have said that under Schroeder the SPD became more CDU-like and that now the CDU have moved leftwards towards that, leaving the SPD stuck between them and Die Linke, with apparently nowhere to go.

I´m not sure what the British conservatives stand for now (since they haven´t had a say for a couple of years ) but I think social issues are a big difference. The CDU advocates a huge welfare state as well.

In economic issues Anglo-Saxon conservative parties stand for a lassez-faire policy. The CDU does not.

SPD to the left of new-labour? On what accounts? Definetly not economic policy. I am a FDP supporter here and would support many of the changes that Blair introduced with regards to deregulation of the economy and so on.

My results:

1. FDP
2. CDU
3. Piratenpartei
MonksTown
The CDU most certainly does have conservatives in it and proponets of laissez-faire economics.

All 6 parties that currently sit in the Bundestag have (had) various wings to them over the years and their influence withng the party rises and falls.
