Hi
We are a couple thinking about moving to live in Berlin. I am British and have many skills so finding work should not be too difficult.
My girlfriend is an English Speaking Thai who has worked in the U.S.A. for two years and studied at an international school and University. Her parents are reasonably well off and can support her as needed.
In order for us to relocate to Berlin I understand that she will need a job that a German cannot do and will require a work and residency permit. Our plan is to find her work before we relocate.
The Obvious job, TEFL, is not something that she wishes to do. So making employment inroads will be difficult.
I have come up with two possible avenues for her and would welcome any other thoughts or advice on this matter.
1.) Working for a Thai company in Berlin / Germany.
2.) Getting a student work placement (one year is the norm). This will mean low wages. Also there will be no guarantee of a work visa at the end.
So in this light I would be grateful if anyone could put her or me in touch with any Thai or Asians living and working in Berlin/Germany. This would allow us to get first hand knowledge regarding possible employment opportunities in this difficult economic climate.
Regards
Kevin McKenna
