After a year of trying to learn German on my own, I'm thinking of taking formal lessons. I was hoping for an evening, once or twice a week, classroom kind of thing. So far I've had no luck finding this in Konstanz; I can only find "intensive" courses (i.e. all day for a few weeks) or offers to organize private lessons. Does anyone know of an evening German course in (or near) Konstanz?

Something seems to be happening at the Sprachendienst (the website is in German though)

This came to my notice today evening... There was no one at the center at 1900, so will go again sometime tomorrow or dayafter to investigate some more.
I was in correspondence with the folks at Inlingua a couple of months back. They were open to concept of an evening course, but they needed atleast three people interested in the beginners course. So if you are interested, that would make two of us.

Those first two courses weren't listed on the Sprachendienst site when I first checked! I emailed them to ask a bit more, and I'm going to go check them out (Schreiben in Alltag & Beruf, and Grammatik und Konversation) and see which one fits. Probably the first one I think. Thanks for your answer!

I've just signed up to the Volkshochschule for evening classes in Uberlingen on Tuesdays & Thursdays starting on 22nd Sept. Maybe you'll find something there, have a look at www.vhs-bodenseekreis.de, however this covers the north side of the lake.

Are you going to take it Hookey? I ended up in the B1/B2 class as the Sprachendienst. I wanted the A2/B1 but apparently I was the only one interested. And I just got an email from Inlingua saying they're setting up an evening course. (I won't be going to it, but in case you're interested, you should contact them.)

cool! nice to hear that you've found something.
and yes, I've enrolled for the A1/1 course. inlingua sent me an email too, but they still weren't sure about conducting beginners level courses in the evening!
