Dog rescues or shelters in Hamburg

Hi, does anyone have any information on dog rescues or shelters in Hamburg? Do they accept volunteers? I know in Chicagoland they are always looking for foster parents and volunteers. Anyway if anyone has any information please let me know. I would very much like to get involved because I love dogs but I haven't been able to find much information. Thanks!

I checked out their site but I didn't see anything about volunteering. Does anyone know how that works? I'm busy right now with work so I won't make it to the shelter for another few weeks. Who ever wants to join me can. Does anyone speak fab German? Mine sucks.

At the Hamburger Tierschutzverein, they have something about volunteering in the Spenden und Helfen section. You could always send them an e mail and ask. For the Franziskus Tierheim there's the Ehrenamtliche Hilfe page.

As I understand it, their most current need is for people to come and build some little cat shelters for them.

I had a friend here who use to walk the dogs at the shelter. She has since moved away, but I know that they were always happy to have some once come and walk and play with the dogs.
