It looks like Unter Den Linden is officially in the history books as the U-bahn Station has been officially changed to Brandenburger Tor to accompany the new U55 line.

I do believe when the U6 is be fiddled with,Französische Str is to be shut and a new Unter Den Linden stop for the U6 at the junction with Friederichstr.

we will see if they actually build it

Yes, that's right! At the moment there are only 3 station available
- Hauptbahnhof
- Bundesplatz
- Brandenburger Tor
That looks raaaaaaaaaaaaather ridiculous >.<
But they are working on the extension of it...
I think that were 8 stations...from Hauptbahnhof up to Alexanderplatz
My opinion: The line is unnecessary and hence...a wasting of money.

I wonder if the other 5 are ghost stations built but never opened.. or if they are only still on the drawing board...

you know how Berliners love to knickname everything (pope's revenge, etc) I think this particular white elephant should have something to do with Helmut Kohl.. like 'Kohls Folly' for example.. he started this insane project that he never got to see completed.. (and still isnt..haha)

Was in Zoo station last ngiht and the map on the Osloer platform has a dotted "im bau" line from Brandenburger Tor to Alexanderplatz, complete with (unnmaed) stations.

Munich has a better, cleaner and less skanky public transport system than Berlin in my opinion.

Munich's is also cheaper; an AB ticket in Berlin costs €6,10 compared to only €5 for an Innenraum ticket in Munich. Both cover the bulk of the sites that a visitor would want to see.

Munich's is cleaner for the most part (though the SBahn in berlin is as clean IMO) and Munich seems to have more escalators in its U Bahn stations but does Munich have such an extensive network? I don't believe so. How big is the Innenraum compared to the AB zone in Berlin? The AB zone is the ENTIRE city of Berlin remember (3.4 million people live inside the AB zone). I find the AB Monatskarte good value at 72 Euro tbh.

Also, the Berlin Night services are MUCH more extensive than Munich's as far as I know.

ALL metrobuses and metrotrams run 24 hours all week and in addition night buses replace and run parallel to the U bahns sunday to thursday night (U and S bahn runs throughout the night at weekends). And they run at 20 minute frequency even in the dead of night, not 1 hour as in Munich.

There's also an extensive supplementary bus network which runs every night and provides multiple guaranteed connections through the various interchange points all around the city.

Also,
Berlin has the nicest Hbf in Germany.

The Berlin night buses are really good. I savea fortune on taxis since I discovered them.

Munich has an extensive range of Nightbuses too.

Berlin does probably have a more extensive network, but it serves more than double the amount of people that Munich does. Overall, if find the service in Munich is better. Probably boils down to the fact we don't have so many "artists" and bludgers down here.

hahahahah true true... lately this place is becoming a Hartz IV paradise..

Yeah but how frequent is it? I think the buses only run every hour and only meet at the Stachus-not very user friendly.

Berlin has got a lot of problems but in general public transport is absolutely top notch. As for the artists and bludgers-well, Berlin's got a troubled past.

Berlin is way bigger than Munich, its an internationally important capital city.
Ad for Munich...who cares really.
