Briton assaulted by neo-Nazis in Hamburg

Members of the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD) attacked a dark-skinned British man in Hamburg over the weekend, beating him and dousing him with pepper spray after he tore up their election pamphlet.

The man had to be transported to the hospital in an ambulance, according to a police report on Monday.

The 46-year-old had stopped at a bakery with his wife and young son on Saturday, when the three NPD members, aged 20, 33 and 43, were handing out party leaflets. When the Brit tore up the leaflet handed to him, he initially prompted a calm discussion.

Not a single word from The Local's article about the fact that "46-year-old Brit" commited a crime by destroying election material. Is that good journalism?

imagine you were in UK. someone came and gave you a pamphlet, written: all germans are n*z*s and should get out from UK.
what will you do? in my case, i will tear the pamphlet apart!. I believe 100% what is written on the pamphlet has already insulted that poor british guy, otherwise, he would not tear the pamphlet!

What is sad is that the police let these so called humans go after hurting this poor guy in front of his family. When will the police do there job and throw this trash in jail.

LMB22, an election pamphlet that was unasked for, doesn't in and of itself command respect, no matter what you may think! Germans appear to have their heads up their arse. I'm sure most people agree with that. There will always be people, even in Britain, who are going to do things that people don't like. As the saying goes "We must pick and choose our battles". You simply can't confront everything.
And I must say, that according to history, violence does not lead to success.
I'm as pro-German as anyone else. No doubt about that. Yet I know that perfection can only be achieved through morality.

It's clear from this story that these 3 individuals wanted to beat this guy up, why hand a pamphlet like that to a black man! they knew exactly what they were doing, they wanted to get a reaction so they could attack him, logic guy your comments are very stupid

Especially when they are quite obviously being assaulted! Moreover, Germany is part of the European Union, as is Britain, which means that we are all citizens of a common community that should strenghthen communication and bonds across the borders, not tell us to shut up once we put one foot outside the country that we happened to be born in.

I don't think Germans or anyone else keeps quiet about potential fascists. Over 10,000 people turned out last year to protest against a Nazi (200 idiots dressed in black) Mayday march in Hamburg. In fact I'd like to see more done about the crusty squatter idiots attaching police in areas of Hamburg and in Berlin ever year.

10,000 activists (most of whom were from the same crusty squatter group you seem to loathe) are in no way representative of the german public on this matter. See the stern report with the Turkish women and two skinheads (all actors) acting out a racially motivated attack in various parts of germany, and watch how members of public do nothing at all, some even praising the attackers.
