For people who like homemade food

Hi everyone

Following on from the thinking behind the coop thread (http://www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=146731), I know quite a few people already who are making great homemade stuff, and being a rural boy who misses his mothers cooking I'd like to fill my cupboards with home made delights.

Is anyone interested in having a home made exchange meetup?

I'd see it working something like this:
Firstly we'd all have a home made pot luck picnic where we all bring what we've made
Then we'd list the things we'd like
Then we match up the dishes like speed dating for food and arrange a swap during the week at our convenience.
Enjoy a wider range of tasty treats, and spend less time cooking them.

Could even be used for ready meals, if anyone's game. Save time, save energy, save money, eat better, everyone's a winner.

Let me know by reply if you're interested.

I have a few good recipes under my belt, mainly hot dishes from my hometown, but wouldnt be really suitable for taking to a picnic. How bout a pot luck with people cooking and bringing along something from their own region?

Good observation about the picnic, maybe we can begin with an indoor event. I'd love to try the stuff from your region, however I'm from Suffolk and since I haven't learned how to make our sausages yet, I wouldn't have much to bring to the table. So (for selfish reasons) best if everybody brings what they want

Your idea sounds lovely. I wish I was in Berlin.

Im sure you could find something easy to do from Suffolk; how about knocking a few spirits together and calling it Suffolk Punch ? or regaling all with a few lines of Chaucer (he was born in suffolk, wasnt he?)

Let us know when you have a date etc in mind.

Thanks Adam, does that mean your in? Marie-Claire sorry you can't make it, but feel free to set one up in your area and let me know how you get on.

Yeah, I'm in. I may be busy in the following 2 weeks as I just signed a lease for an apartment and need to fix things, paint it and then move in, not to mention furnish it and move all my belongings from Rome to here. But once I'm set in the new place, I'm in for sure. The only limiting factor for me is that I'm a vegetarian, so I can only "trade" veggie stuff.

"Speed Dating for Food"... what a cool idea.

Aw man I though maybe home grown stuff was being offered.

This sounds like a great idea! Brillant. I'm American, by the way.

so everyone brings his own made food. But who offers his place for many people?

Will we know what kind of food there'll be in advance? I'm not THAT curious, yet it'd be sufficient to know whether vegetarian or not.
