Salbe gegen Verspannung und Muskelverhärtungen, generally referred to as Sportgel.
Voltaren is one of the most popular, contains diclophenac. If you want something like IcyHot try ABC-Salbe but wash your hands thoroughly after applying it and clean under your fingernails. Also, avoid direct heat sources after applying it.

If you're looking for something with methocarbamol in it like Robaxacet, it's sold under the name of Ortoton and Dolovisano here but it's prescription only.
Katrina
Muskelrelaxanzien or Myotonolytika would be the terms.

If you are looking for OTC, then you won´t get ABC plasters (the "B" stands for Belladona, which is poisonous), but maybe an AC plaster to put around your neck.
Rheuma Salbe is also quite good for keep bits warm and relaxed.
Have you spoken to your Doc/Krankenkasse yet?

The salve is OTC, afaik the plaster as well but it's been almost nine years since I last used it.

Thanks for all the replies, but I am looking for perscription muscle relaxers (pills) NOT gels etc.... What I currently have

In the states they are Rx only. 1 small does relaxes your muscles and also puts you to sleep

A German colleage told me it is just Muskelnentspannen, but was not sure.

I can not get into the Ortho until Thur and I only have 2 pills left

I am sure he speaks good enough English to know what I need, just thought I would go prepared.

Thanks!
Katrina
Print out the Wikipedia page on Muskelrelaxanzien.

Watch out for Voltaren pills, they can cause abdominal bleeding.

Take the pack that your pills came in along with you - the active ingredients are normally the same (unless yours is written in cryllic or something) and written on the pack somewhere. Should be able to get the same stuff here.

Worked for me in France - packed the wrong amount of stuff and needed a fill up pretty urgently - took the box to the nearest Doc and got a prescription for enough of the stuff to last the holiday (only cost 5euros as well) despite the fact that he spoke no English and I can't speak French..

If you search for the active ingredient Cyclobenzaprin (Cyclobenzaprine in English) on the German web, a few links come up stating that it's rarely used in Europe, but you could still show your doc your meds and he may be able to prescribe something similar that would do the trick.
