Will it really take 5hrs for 56k? huh.gif
Onni
Only if we have a mass on each Alm on the way tongue.gif

As far as I see we have now:
- Onni
- colin stewart
- spatton
- Bannockburn
- tench

We have two cars, mine and spatton's. I can take one person plus bike along, spatton has a bike rack and can hopefully take the other two persons with him. Location could be either Tegernsee area or the Estergebirge. Does any of you guys have the Moser guides? I've been cycling in both areas but am not sure if I remember the tours I did.

I would propose an early start, e.g. around 8am. Meeting point could be e.g. U-Bahn station Innsbrucker Ring.
kit
Sounds like another good ride this weekend. I'm heading down to the Garda mtb festival in the morning but hopefully we can make this a regular Saturday event and I'll see y'all next week.
Bannockburn
colin stewart is now Bannockburn tongue.gif

Location depends on how fit we are all feeling but I believe it's gonna be a nice day. Tegernsee/Schliersee area is quicker to get to than Garmish, and there are plenty of options depending on fitness/ability/how bad the hangover is, etc...

How about deciding between,

Option #1: A Tegernsee tour, starting at the Bahnhof - perhaps over to Schliersee/Spitzingsee areas and see what happens?

or

Option #2: Moser vol2 tour#25 (mentioned above).
tench
Looks like I may have to pullout. Have to come into the office for onsite support tomorrow mad.gif
Onni
So it looks like we're actually three - bannockburn, spatton and me. I vote for option #1 as it's closer.

I'll pm you my phone number.
spatton
OK I vote for Tegernsee as its closer.
I will fit the 3 bike racks on the car so can take 2 other people.
Suggest pickup at Ost Bahnhof at 9am
Let me know if this works.
Bannockburn
Ok, Tegernsee it is biggrin.gif

Anyone else care to join then we'll be at the Tegernsee Bahnhof at 9am getting ready to go cool.gif
spatton
If anyone needs a ride PM me.
mrbobke
Hi,

I could be up for this, if I get up early enough. If anyone is reading this, would be great if you could PM me a cell in case I can't find you guys, etc.

Cheers

Mr Bobke
Onni
This was a splendid day out! Perfect weather, great ride, great company smile.gif

Some statistics:
Start in Tegernsee was at 09:30. We needed 5,5 hours for 33km (with breaks). Total ascent was 1300m. Pretty slow, but still not too bad when considering the fact that we had to act as true pathfinders for some of those kilometers.

Experiences collected during the tour:
- MrBobke discovered that dismounting from the bike involuntarily is actually so much more comfortable when there's some snow cushioning the fall wink.gif
- If the path you're cycling on ends all of a sudden, this does not necessarily mean that you have to turn back (but it may decrease your average speed quite a bit if you don't)
- There's certainly places easier to get to for having a beer than an alm in the mountains, but the beer up there tastes so much better as you have to work hard for it tongue.gif
- It's possible to do decent mtb tours without the help of Mr Moser
mrbobke
Thanks guys for a great ride and a great day. Definitely up for the next odyssey...

Oh, and one other discovery:

-The guys at Aral on the Leuchtenberg ring will do a good job of cleaning your bike if you give them a fiver cool.gif ... guess that was a bit too much, but after an hour searching for one of those pressure spray washing places, I was desperate! Anyone out there know where they are hiding? I want this:

but they seem to all be those automated wash 'tunnels' that don't work too well for bikes...

Not this:

Bannockburn
Mrbobke - ever tried a watering can & sponge? tongue.gif

Here's some photos from yesterday's MTB ride.

Oh, and some more from tonight's ride up Wallberg.

So, I know it's only Monday but who is up for meeting next weekend?

*

No, I haven't... I prefer my girlfriend, thanks... is that a scottish thing?
Bannockburn
Aye, Lad, ... best results with warm water & soap! laugh.gif
Bannockburn
Lads,

Any takers for meeting up for a tour somewhere on Sunday?

Something about 5 or 6 hours with plenty single ma.., er..., single track, and some up & down smile.gif

Later,
Bannockburn.
Wildflower
Oi, bannockburn !

whats this lads stuff !!! hmmm dry.gif

Im happy to bike Sunday !...if its not to kamikazee (however thats spelt !)
Bannockburn
Wildflower - thanks for highlighting this faux pas.

Correction:

The prerequisit for these tours is that you either need to be a LAD or a FIT CHICK tongue.gif Having an interest in cycling UP hills as well as down also helps smile.gif
Onni
I'm not FIT but I'm a LAD so I guess I fulfill the requirements tongue.gif

Am not sure about Sunday yet - it's currently clashing with other plans and it depends on the tour and scheduling if I can make it.

@WF - we try to get first high up and then down as fast as possible - that goes in line with kamikaze. However, we try to neither damage anything nor hurt or even kill ourselves, which is the small but essential difference compared to kamikazes laugh.gif

Dudes and dude-ettes,

Who is up for riding either Saturday or Sunday? It looks like Saturday could be the best bet for dry weather but I'm down for either.
guattang
Hi, if anyone is out for a ride on Sunday, I'd be keen on joining you. Cheers.
Bannockburn
Dudes & Dudettes,

I think Sunday is right on the Money just now.

Lurch has en evil tour in mind that I think starts near to Lenggries - haven't you Lurch? smile.gif Looking at about 5 hours and starting at about 9am.

So far we have Lurch, Bannockburn, Wildflower, Quattang & Kit.

Anyone else? biggrin.gif

We can synch up tomorrow afternoon with the final plan...
lurch
it's not evil biggrin.gif it's a very nice tour wink.gif
Bannockburn
Folks,

How about meeting at Fleck, just south of Lenggries, at 10am? As you go south through Fleck there's a wee restaurant & beer garden place on your left - shall we meet there? biggrin.gif

Bannockburn.
guattang
Sounds good. I´ll be taking the 8:42 BOB from Munich hbf.
kit
Did you guys ride?? I woke up and it was dumping snow down here!
Sandals
I spent the weekend out by Schliersee and I considered packing out the skis again... Does summer only arrive in August?
Bannockburn
Yeah - Lurch & Wildflower were not put off by a wee bit of snow tongue.gif We managed a good tour starting at Langeneck, south of Lenggries, and heading into the hills to the West. Snowline was about 950m and this eventually ground us to a halt at 1200m so we dropped down and found some great low level single track. Out for 6 hours, got pretty wet & cold but enjoyed ourselves smile.gif
tench
Anyway up for a trip to the hills this weekend?
mrhay
I'd be up for a ride - I was supposed to be going to Lake Garda earlier in the week, but had food posioning, so those plans were scuppered...
guattang
Hey, shame I couldn't join you guys last weekend.

When it came to re-assembling the bike I found the retaining spring in my front brake was mangled. I've ordered a replacement - but it's not arrived yet. Anyone know anywhere which stocks Hope spares?

If I can get my bike working, I'll be up for a ride Sunday and/or Monday. I'll check back in on Saturday evening to see if anything is up ...
Bannockburn
Hey guys,

I'm up for something tomorrow afternoon and an all day job on Monday.

Got a new bike to ride the ass off so keen to get out smile.gif

For HOPE spares I think you are screwed in Munich. I have C2's on the old bike and haven't found any shops yet that stock the spares. Perhaps order them off the internet, or even buy some decent brakes tongue.gif ?

thinking about a trip up to the Rotwand Hut, above Spitzing See, tomorrow afternoon - any takers?

Later,
Bannockburn.
kit
Guys (and gals)...i'm potentially up for something maybe around 11am or noon...4 hours or so of riding if the weather holds?

Bannockburn...give me a shout if y'all are heading out.
tench
bannockburn: Big trip on monday sounds good to me. Need to get miles in on the road bike tomorrow so will give that a miss though..

mrhay: You in?
Bannockburn
So Wildflower & I were out today on a tour with the bikes above
Schliersee. It was a great afternoon smile.gif

Tench - you okay, missing in action... smile.gif ?
Wildflower
Yeah it was a really great tour and we sussed a few other interesting tracks for a return trip or two wink.gif

the snow is melting and for sure the tracks are there just waiting over the next few weeks smile.gif

Got bike ...will adventure !
tench
Nice pics. BB, is the Turner your new rig? Nice.

Hello folks,
Please excuse the intrusion into this thread but I could use some help.

I'm an avid mtn biker in his 40's and I want to check out the riding in the greater Munich area.

I'll only be there for a weekend and was wondering where's some nice single track and most important, where can I rent a decent bike?

I guess I'll bring my pedals, shoes, and clothes or ship them ahead.

I'm a twice a weeker all year round (love those studs!)
I don't race but ride (in the back) of my buddies that do.

I don't need to climb an Alp but I'd love to ride in some nice scenic areas.

I was looking at a place near Salzburg but maybe that's farther then I really need to travel.

Any local help you could provide would really be appreciated.

Oh yeah, dates are June 11-12

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

There is a shed load of good quality riding just to the south of Munich, just 30 mins away, around Tegernsee, Schliersee & Spitzingsee. Mixed, of course, with comfortable huts that serve beer smile.gif Of course there are other areas further afield, such as Garda See, Salzburger Land, Garmish, but you don't need to travel that far to find sweet single track. One thing you could do is to look at the Tegernsee Marathon course, just to get some ideas as to where to go. Other than that you need to buy a map and use your nose a bit to suss out some nice trails, or buy the locals some beer smile.gif The Moser guides are okay for a general overview, but they certainly aren't the single track bible wink.gif

As for quality bike hire - sorry, I am not sure. Perhaps give Radsport Rosch a phone and see if they can do anything for you.

If you want any more details about specific trails/routes then PM me if you like.

Regards,
Bannockburn.

Hi everyone,

Perhaps a long shot with such short notice... But, is anyone interested in riding tomorrow, Thursday May 26th? I have the day off (though not everyone I know does?), and also just purchased my long awaited mtb, and the weather's looking good... I wanna ride! biggrin.gif

I'm a complete newbie to the riding areas around here, so would prefer to go with someone/people who know a good route. I have a car, but no bike rack, but have foldable rear seats so I can lay down a bike or two in the back if need be.

I'm flexible with times too, but would prefer to be back in Munich around 6 in the evening (not sure how long these day trips usually last)

Cheers everyone!

cool.gif
Bannockburn
Sorry, can't make it - off rock climbing 'til Sunday, so my bike will be taking a rest from the abuse it's been getting recently smile.gif
