I want to do this but not really on my own.
I think its gonna be great motivation for getting in shape, which i need to do!!
There are still 73 days to the event so plenty time to get fit.
Go on...you know you should.
PS I am a total beginner. Never done a competitive run swim or cycle in my life so dont be intimidated to join me. Anyone is welcome.
this is the link

Hi Scotsman,
I did it last year with my boyfriend and a couple of colleagues. It was fun although a little unorganized. Still thinking about it for this year. The hardest part was the swimming but at least its the first event so you can get it over with quickly!
If you have any questions, send me a PM.
The site in in german

but I guess it is something to do with 3 sports (swiming, cycling, running). I am not sure what it is but I may be interested.

I was thinking of doing one of these last year, but after realising I could only run about 100m before my knee was in agony, I gave up. Could possibly think about participating, but doubt it..
Now.. last year I was also looking at doing a team race where 1 person does each bit.. and one of the bits was rollerblading. I would so be up for doing that this year.. anyone ?

I just got an email about a race in June that is rollerblading, cycling and running and it's out at the Rudderregatta in Oberschleissheim. However, there was no link to a website or anything.
I've done one of these before. It's actually harder because it's three events using your legs, instead of two with the traditional tri(swimming isn't really using your legs too much).
If you're interested, I can forward the email to you.

I haven't signed up yet but thats the one I plan to compete in too.
Did you complete the application on the website? I know you have to pay 36 Euro, did you pay that online? My german is not so good thats why I was reluctant to do it online.

You guys that signed up for the triathlon in the Olympic Park - make sure you are signing up for the Volks triathlon, not the Sprint. The Sprint is for the semi-pros and you earn points, etc, etc and it's a lot fewer people and it's not 'the' event. The event to do is the Volkstriathlon.
They don't take your money for awhile. If you don't have your own timing chip(most people don't) then you need to rent one for the day - that's extra money. I think it was 56€ total last year with the chip. Then go and pick up your bag with your race numbers and your chip on the night before. On the day of the race they will give you little zip ties to attach the chip to your ankle but be sure to bring something else with you to attach it just in case they run out of zip ties like last year.

Kitkat: The Sprint isn't for the semi-pros though I suspect the standard is a bit higher. It just means that you have to swim an extra 350m and do an extra loop on both the bike and run. You're right though, there are fewer people and the standard is probably higher.
I suspect you were thinking of the DTU Sprint series which is the national league team event.
I'll probably be doing the volks this year. Means an extra hour or two in bed.

If anyone fancies meeting up to train before, let me know..

Tench, you're right. I was just too lazy to look it up for sure. I just knew that there were two different ones(Volks and Sprint) and if it is someone's first triathlon, I'd recommend the Volks(more newbies).

@scotsman: How's the biking coming along?

I'm goin out tonight for a while if you fancy it? Prob only about 30k.
But this is a month of hardcore training for me. I didn't realise how hard it was to run after bein on the bike!!
I had a look at the times from last year...The winner done the bike part in 28mins...(approx 40km/h...Bloody Fast) the swim in 7min and the run in 19mins.
I cant go that fast on the bike for that long.
still need to sign up too...prob do it tonight actually.
I'm doing this for charity as well, so far raised about €250 so if anyone wants to donate I have sponsor forms made up. (even €1 makes a difference)

Sucks, doesn't it? I found it super-easy to bike after swimming(of course, your legs are pretty much rested already). Try the triathlon with Roller-Blading, running and Biking. Running after roller blading is really bad. You can't even feel your legs.

May 12 2005, 2:47 pm
Yeah it takes a few goes before your legs get used to running off the bike. Even then it's best to take it easy for the first km or so the blood can trickle into the right muscles..
From the looks of the course plan, the bike leg will be slower this year cos of all the cobbles and rough paths. Should be fun though.

Scotsman - If you're running or riding this weekend let me know. I'd be happy to train with someone even though I'm not doing the race.

Really, I'd like to ddo a ride this weekend(not an epic ride) but a 2-3 hour/40-60km ride but has to be north because my bike is not transportable in my ittsy-bitsy car.

Yep and there's another one the first week of July - inline skate, run, bike at the Rudderegatta. Don't worry. It's not like you backed out at the last minute because you were chicken. These are things that are beyond your control. Just send out an email explaining what happened and tell people that you are planning on participating in a different one(give details) and hope they will continue to support you.

OK, I just went out to the Munich Triathlon/City Triathlon site. It says the Munich Triathlon Festival the first weekend in June is cancelled.
It does not say the Triathlon is cancelled. Isn't the triathlon this weekend - like on Sunday? I find it hard to believe because there were several hundred people signed up back in March.

May 23 2005, 3:49 pm
I'll forward you a copy of the email...maybe your german is better than mine. But the email said if you have paid to compete then your money will be refunded...
The list of registered competitors has also been removed form the site.
kitkat64
May 23 2005, 3:53 pm
Yes, send the email because this is the official site and it doesn't say anything about it being cancelled but the other site says the Triathlon Festival which is June 4-5 is cancelled. The triathlon is Sunday, May 29.
http://www.triathlon-muenchen.de/triathlonAnd the participant list is still there. Make sure you look at this site. There was a lot of confusion last year about the two different sites.
Also, I have a German friend doing it, so I can ask him.

I just sent you the email. I didn't realise there was another one on. I was talking about the one at Olympia Zentrum 12th June. I don't know anything about the other one. This just proves the confusion that can be caused

The one on June 12th yes. There is another one this sunday
(29/5) at the
olympiapark too though. But, it might be too late to sign up now.
Sounded a bit strange having two events of the same distance and location two weeks apart in the first place, so not really that suprised it didn't get the participants.

Don't think anyone from here was registered for that one?
There is also the Elixia Triathlon this year. I was there last year and it was a blast (except that the running route was not marked very well). The water is exceptionally nice because it is so clean (an artificial rowing stadium).
I could not find a proper web page, but here is a bit of info (in German, sorry):
