British International School Kindergarten - Berlin

Info and parental feedback about this preschool

wendyfriz
Does anyone have feedback on the British International School Kindergarten. We have just permanently moved from England (mom is American and husband is Austria) so kids are bi-lingual. We are looking for a kindergarden with a very good reputation and emphasis on creativity etc. We also have looked at the Waldorf ones which seemed quite nice. It seems like the British International is extremely expensive and wondered if it was worth it. Any comments on the Frobel kitas as well as these were recommended. Thanks in advance.

My daughter was in the Tom Sawyer Montessori kita in Dahlem for nearly 4 years and absolutely loved it. 10/15 mins by car from Charlottenburg. It's bilingual rather than solely English-speaking, but all the better for integration. The fees are at the same level as state-run nurseries (i.e. income dependent, somewhere between 100 and 400 Euros, absolutely free in the last year before school). A lovely new building with a garden just outside. There a big waiting lists for German kids, but you should swing it if your child is a genuine English native speaker (officially the policy is 1/3 German only, 1/3 mixed, 1/3 non-German).
