Electricians in Darmstadt

I've just moved into my first unfurnished apartment in Darmstadt and I have the problem of just having the wires hanging from the ceiling, but no actual lights. I'm trying to keep my 100 % record of not electrocuting myself (and not exactly a handyman) - does anyone know any reasonable electricians who could fit some lights for me ?

I use Elektrowilk on Elisabethenstraße at the moment (on a newbuild) but there are a surprising number dotted around the centre of town - no shortage - if you haven't already noticed, a vast amount of building goes on here. Aside from word of mouth, do a google search, pinpoint the addresses and go to the office. Draft a standard email, bang it off to the listed addresses, see who bites. I think I've even just noted vans in the street sometime! Don't be surprised if the better places (not short of work) ask you to wait a couple of weeks though.

How much are electricians? I am a student doing a year abroad in Darmstadt, but my lights have just gone out and looks like I'll be shelling out for an electrician! Has anyone else had success with electricians in Darmstadt?

Depends on who you get and "seniority" of the person etc - I pay 20 to 40 Eur per hour with the established names.

What do you mean they have 'gone'? Honestly you can connect new light fittings yourself, just check the wires are correct it is easy peasy. I can do it and I am a girl! Check it on google first but I believe blue to blue, brown to brown and green and yellow to green and yellow, there should be a screw for the earth too. You really don't need to pay extortionate amounts to an electrician. I thought any bloke would be able to do this? If not I'll send my boyfriend round he works him Darmstadt pay him extortionate amounts and he can buy me a nice dinner
