Beer biking in Frankfurt

A mix of sports and fun

Jever
For visitors to the Frankfurt area, this must be some great fun: beer biking through Frankfurt. Now it is actually legal to drink and pedal while having a good time.

The bike, driver and bartender can be rented by the hour. Of course, German companies also rent it for business get-togethers.

FWIW I've seen this a couple of times, twatting around Sachsenhausen, and I think the "passeng-rinkers" (or whatever the term for them is) end up looking like complete dicks. If you want to drink a beer, go to a bar / pub / Wirtschaft.

Call me old-fashioned...

Have seen these around too and I think it seems to be great fun - nobody looks like an idiot; they just look like they're having a jolly good time
but I guess fuddy duddy old men trying to be young, loud and cool on a bier-bike can end up looking.. well.. like twats

Pre-cisely.

It does look like a bit of fun yes. Not that I can commit to organising but we should do a TT event there sometime.

I think it would be fun to do a TT event on one too. Since I am downtown a lot, I do get to see them almost every day. Seems to be a lot of bachelor or bachlorette (is this the right word to use?) parties.

Maybe something for Sept. if folks are interested? If it is going to be an event, then it does need a clever name.

I was thinking the same about the hen/stag parties. Guess it does seem like a fun thing to do for that too.

I would be interested yes but could only do after 20th September as it is the Berlin marathon and will be off large amounts of beer until then. But that is no reason for everyone else not to go before if another date suits the majority better.

Here is the rental site.

I think the TT pub quiz on the 18th might be a good time to present this, see how many people are interested, and set a date or take reservations since it is a limited amount of participants.

The last time one went by, I counted and it looked like 16 could be seated and one or two as bartenders. Costs 70 euro per hour, plus drinks, though they have after work specials, 200 euro for 2 hours and includes 20 liters of beer.

Maybe somebody wants to challenge the Feldberg on 12 September on this vehicle?

See my separate thread on the issue! All for the good of a childrens charity.

We rented the bier bike in July and had a blast. It was 300 euros for 3 hours, including 30 liters of beer and 3 bottles of champagne. I recommend bringing other music, as the driver plays only German songs and if you're not German... well...

Soda/water/etc are charged extra. Moondancer, you can see my pictures from it on facebook The only problem we had was the hangover the next day... ouch.

Also, we did it on a Thursday night. It is more expensive on weekends.
