A16 year old teenie girl was killed in the bath tub when a light fell into the bath whilst she was bathing.

Now, I think its a cool idea to have a 220v power outlet in the bathroom for hair dryers etc, but who needs an additional lamp in there?? especially one which could fall into the tub??

I thought the French Pop singer Claud Francois was daft for changing a light bulb whilst taking a bath...

Anyway..

Story here in German!

How sad - the girl was actually 6 years old, not 16...

My appologies... title edited...

Apparently the ceiling light wasn't working so the parents put the light in there instead. The child was playing with it, and it must've come in contact with the water. That is so tragic.
I don't think anyone would expect that to happen.

I don't think anyone would expect that to happen.
yeah they would, which is why they don't put electrical sockets in bathrooms in Britain.

So you consider it neglectful of the parents to put the light into the bathroom?
JeffZ
Negligent, not neglectful. And exceedingly stupid.
Owain Glyndwr
if not neglectful, totally stupid. Any idiot knows that electricity and water don't mix. Add a child in there and leave it on its own to play with the lamp and you are asking for trouble.

Tragic, yes. And the parents will be beating themselves up about this as it was totally preventable.

Letting your 6 year play with a live electric light in the bathtub, probably ranks even more stupid than letting them sit in the car without seat belts. They probably even said: don't play with the light its dangerous, which is of course an open invite to any child to play.

That is terribly SAD!!!
Such a STUPID, STUPID accident that cost the kid her life!!!

(note to other parents - always have candles in the bathroom in case the lights don“t work!)

I'd prefer using a simple waterproof flashlight. No danger of electrocution or burns.

Think romance Bipa

Romance is good, but being back in earthquake central, I too prefer to keep flashlights around... Don't want to shut off the gas to the house while holding a lit candle.

Think romance Bipa
With a 6-year old in the tub, romance isn't quite at the top of the list, eh? <*-)

Very, very sad.
