Biking up Großer Feldberg

Dear readers,

The Autumn is drawing nearer and so is the time to grab your bicycle and join us in repeating our excellent success from the last two years. It is time once again to get fit and mobilise our strength in the name of charity.

After the first year saw 13 people joining the good cause, the event had grown considerably last year with no less than 33 people working their way to the top of "Großer Feldberg" and all together in a joint effort we raised the amazing amount of:

4,252.50 Euro

in favour of the organisations Hilfe für krebskranke Kinder Frankfurt E.v.

We got a lot support from all of YOU, colleagues, friends and family, which was very generous. The organisation "Hilfe für krebskranke Kinder Frankfurt e.V." and the children were truly thankful.

We therefore ask you once again to take part in raising money and being part of supporting your local community. The charity of our choice does an amazing job in caring for very ill children and providing support to their families in an extremely difficult situation, no one should ever have to encounter!

We will ourselves pay € 50 for the ride, and we kindly ask for your support. If you, your friends or family would like to join us in riding up the "Großer Feldberg" on bicycles, then you are very welcome. We kindly ask you to support the good cause by providing your muscle strength and as a minimum € 15 for participating. You are of course most welcome to pay/donate additional monies to the benefit of the charity by pledging additionally contributions.

If you don't feel like bicycling, but would like to support the good cause, you are very much welcome to pledge € 10 or more or less, whatever you would like to contribute. And we are also looking for non-biking helpers to hand out water and fruit etc. during the way up the Feldberg.

The big event will take place on Saturday 12 September 2009.

Like last year we start at 10 a.m. at the Hohemark U-Bahn station, which means we have approximately 12 km to the summit. This year we will have two groups, one riding on the mountain bike paths and one riding on the road.

Elisabeth Kruse has again offered to act as "treasurer" of this venture, which means that your pledges should be made to her on this special e-mail: Feldberg2009@thelastviking.dk. Just send her an e-mail informing about

• the amount you would like to pledge,
  
• if you would like to ride with us (If yes, path or road and please provide your mobile telephone number) and
  
• if you would need a receipt for tax purposes. (If yes, mention your full name and address.)
  

Elisabeth will also be responsible for asking you to pay up, which will be required before the event starts.

We have started training and we hope and count on your good support. Let us be generous and show the children that we can make a difference. If you know of others who you think would like to support the good cause and ride with us up the Feldberg, please forward this e-mail to them. If we spread the word, together we can make a difference.

So get on your bike, get in shape and be part of something amazing. A picture of the start in 2008 is attached.

I would absolutely love to ride with you but sadly I can't make it that Saturday as have already committed to a weekend in Munich.

However I will be pledging and there in spirit.

A great idea and I'd love to join - however, like Muffin, I've already got plans to be on holidays (on a cycling trip funnily enough!)

Dear all,

just a quick post to let you know that no less than 115 bike riders worked their way up the Grosser Feldberg on 12 September, raising - in cooperation with sponsors - the fantastic amount of more than € 7,000.

Hope to have more from this forum join on 12 September next year. That is a Sunday!
