How to change your tax class

Is it possible to change my Lohnsteuer Klasse on a KVR website without going to KVR in person? If I must go in person, what might KVR need besides the Lohnsteuer Karte?

I once mailed my husbands and my Lohnstuerkarten to our local Gemeinde office (the village equivalent of the KVR) with a letter stating that we wished to change from 4/4 to 3/5. Both signatures on the letter and a return envelope with a fresh stamp. They mailed them back next week, with all changes made.

Don't know, however, whether this was an exemption or whether it was normal.

could anybody please tell me where i should go to change the tax class(due to marriage). By the way I have the card(2006) with me and it still has my old address which is in Garching and now i live in munich.

You can get the changes done through either the KVR or any of the local registration offices ('Meldestellen') in Munich.
You can apply for an updated Steuerkarte in person or in writing.

Does anybody know what percentage of income is paid in tax for each of the tax classes?
I am planning to change mine from 5 to 4 and was wondering if it would make a significant difference......?
