Why have they not figured out that Taco Bell would be a big hit in Europe?
KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are all owned by the same big corporation. I remember just freaking out one day while in Germany that I could not get a bean and cheese buritto!
Can we all just visualize a Taco Bell in Germany? Maybe we can make it happen!!

Got a few thousand to spare and a desire? That is all a franchise needs! Other than that, got a few thousand and a desire to make it work and I can help you make a substitute, only better.

The Taco Bell story has already been covered before.
Go
Hooters comes to Germany to see why you will not be seeing a Tacobell in Germany anytime soon...

Because she means biscuit. If you start calling biscuits bread, you may as well call pretzels bread. Or crackers. Or communion wafers. It'd be anarchy.
How is it possible to have a
KFC with no biscuits? Fried chicken and no biscuits is against the laws of nature.

Jul 8 2005, 12:04 pm
Actually, communion wafers are simply bread, until they are consecrated. The specialized word for it is paneity: the quality or state of being merely bread.

An American biscuit is nothing more than a scone. Scones don't go with fried food.
Everyone knows that...

I only came on this thread to see what Hazza said. Hazza, the man who's never met a chicken he didn't like.

Jul 8 2005, 2:33 pm
actually, I can see how the "mix & drop" style biscuit could be compared to a scone, but it's the rolled biscuit (or the angel biscuit, etc. depending on which state in the south you come from) that we're talking about and which some of *us*

find superior to the drop biscuit. mmmm.
agree, UpQuark - fried chicken without biscuits is culinary blasphemy.
takes a moment to say a prayer to Popeye's EggBo biscuit...sniff...

@brokenm: if it looks like an Oblate, tastes like an Oblate and smells like an Oblate, it must be an Oblate.
Oblaten can be the host served at communion or more commonly the wafer used in Lebkuchen.

Probably laughing at the stupid foreigner who ate scones believing them to be biscuits...
On a similar note though, I was distressed to find that
KFC in the States (at least in California) didn't serve chips (fries) as a side dish. What's all that about?
interplanetjanet
Jul 9 2005, 10:15 am
If you want chips, go to McDonald's. A proper meal of fried chicken has biscuits (much less dense and less crumbly than scones), coleslaw and mashed potatos with gravy. Mmm.

Oh yes...mmmmm. My friend used to actually drink the gravy out of the little Styrofoam cup they serve it in. She considered it a drink

She looooved it. But then again she's a bit strange. She also used to ask for extra sauce on her pizza...like sauce on top of all the fixins'. Man I miss her

I remember a KFC in Frankfurt back in the early 70's. Never tried that one. I Wonder why it took so long for a
KFC to get to Munich. What I can't undersatnd is why any one would settle for Amberican fast food in a city like Munich.

I don't think we will see Dairy Queen here any time soon.

I have a German friend in the States who had never heard of it when he arrived there. He saw a vending machine with root beer and thought, "Hm, they sell beer in vending machines here." He bought one, opened it up and took a big swig, expecting beer. Needless to say, he wasn't very happy about it. Like most people who've never tried it do, he thought it tasted like cough medicine. It's definitely an acquired taste.

Oooooh, baby! Napa here I come! A&W for lunch and then off to visit Winegirl for some discounted wine tasting. Hm, I could spend a couple days there and alternate between wine, root beer and Blackhawk Stout and Red Tail Ale at the Mendocino Brewing Company. Ah, there's the life...
If my kinfolk weren't in town I'd vote for next TT Tuesday at the KFC. Yeah, yeah, I know its scheduled karaoke at GMs.
Im just reminding peeps that
KFC is opening next week. I might have to take my bucket of chicken fried goodness on a picnic to the biergarten. Well the second bucket, as the first one wont make it out of the parking lot. Oh and yes I'd probably hide the bucket if I went on a picnic. I mean someone might try and steal it

KFC will also be doing the free refill service on drinks.
Saw the first advert for it yesterday, Radio Gong is doing a tie-in promotion with their breakfast show, something about winning pairs of tickets to U2.
