Yeah, but what do Europeans know about biscuits? They think they're cookies. wink.gif
Owain Glyndwr
why call it a biscuit when you mean bread? Defies logic really, IPJ, doesn't it?
interplanetjanet
Eat me (biscuit). wink.gif
Antaresglow
Why have they not figured out that Taco Bell would be a big hit in Europe? KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are all owned by the same big corporation. I remember just freaking out one day while in Germany that I could not get a bean and cheese buritto!
Can we all just visualize a Taco Bell in Germany? Maybe we can make it happen!!
eurovol
Got a few thousand to spare and a desire? That is all a franchise needs! Other than that, got a few thousand and a desire to make it work and I can help you make a substitute, only better. wink.gif

@Antaresglow

The Taco Bell story has already been covered before.
Go Hooters comes to Germany to see why you will not be seeing a Tacobell in Germany anytime soon...

Because she means biscuit. If you start calling biscuits bread, you may as well call pretzels bread. Or crackers. Or communion wafers. It'd be anarchy.

How is it possible to have a KFC with no biscuits? Fried chicken and no biscuits is against the laws of nature.
randy
Actually, communion wafers are simply bread, until they are consecrated. The specialized word for it is paneity: the quality or state of being merely bread.
Hazza
An American biscuit is nothing more than a scone. Scones don't go with fried food.

Everyone knows that...
Showem
Naw, scones and biscuits are a very different texture.

I only came on this thread to see what Hazza said. Hazza, the man who's never met a chicken he didn't like.
brokenm
@Randy
I thought they were Oblaten. Meaning to give or something
butterbean
actually, I can see how the "mix & drop" style biscuit could be compared to a scone, but it's the rolled biscuit (or the angel biscuit, etc. depending on which state in the south you come from) that we're talking about and which some of *us* wink.gif find superior to the drop biscuit. mmmm.

agree, UpQuark - fried chicken without biscuits is culinary blasphemy.

takes a moment to say a prayer to Popeye's EggBo biscuit...sniff...
Scogs
I cant believe that there are 9 pages about a shop that hasnt even opened yet and basically sells overpriced chicken in a bucket!!!
interplanetjanet
But tasty overpriced chicken in a bucket.
Bearlymuc
the bucket is also quiet tasty smile.gif
eurydice
@brokenm: if it looks like an Oblate, tastes like an Oblate and smells like an Oblate, it must be an Oblate.

Oblaten can be the host served at communion or more commonly the wafer used in Lebkuchen.
robbieinmunich
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaa i cant beleive we are on this theme again about KENTUCKY FRIED CRAP!!!
Scogs
the bucket has more nutritional value
laugh.gif
robbieinmunich
2nd that!
NOFXmike
I strongly dislike and could definately NEVER see myself purposely eating KFC in the states...however, here for some fucked up reason, it sounds very appealing. I'd even bet you'd see me there the week it opens...

...not that I'd EVER give a shit if anything is nutritional, though...I climb up a mountain 6 days a week, the hell if I care about some extra calories!!
RNAiNY
is there an organized trip to KFC on the opening day?? we need representatives from TT

Really???

Then some bastard in America must've taken the piss and given me scones instead.

Probably laughing at the stupid foreigner who ate scones believing them to be biscuits...

On a similar note though, I was distressed to find that KFC in the States (at least in California) didn't serve chips (fries) as a side dish. What's all that about?
interplanetjanet
If you want chips, go to McDonald's. A proper meal of fried chicken has biscuits (much less dense and less crumbly than scones), coleslaw and mashed potatos with gravy. Mmm.

mashed potatos with gravy. Mmm.

Oh yes...mmmmm. My friend used to actually drink the gravy out of the little Styrofoam cup they serve it in. She considered it a drink huh.gif She looooved it. But then again she's a bit strange. She also used to ask for extra sauce on her pizza...like sauce on top of all the fixins'. Man I miss her sad.gif

I remember a KFC in Frankfurt back in the early 70's. Never tried that one. I Wonder why it took so long for a KFC to get to Munich. What I can't undersatnd is why any one would settle for Amberican fast food in a city like Munich. cool.gif
Fluffy Bunny
Kentucky Fried lard with lard sauce and lardy chips more like.
hee.
but that's why it tastes so good actually. biggrin.gif
you can always trust lard.

Have you looked at the line ups in McD's and Burger King lately? Seems people here like their fast food.
interplanetjanet
Mmm. Pass the lard.
Moonboot
heehee. gladly my dear. smile.gif

hope it doesn't stop at KFC, we need a Dairy Queen here, and a Taco Bell!
hmm...am off home to have my tea getting hungry now!

Screw Dairy Queen, we need an A&W. Mmm...rootbeer floats...I stopped at one in Nebraska once and learned pretty quickly that it was one of the last three in the country that still made their own rootbeer on site. Aaaaaaah, pure heaven.

I would if I could IPJ, I would if I could. Steak finger baskets and one of them chocolate hand dipped cones. mmmmm. I need a cold shower.
DDBug
Just found out hubby's new job is less than one block from KFC. And he is an addict. Oh boy.
interplanetjanet
Better get a head start and look into what the German version of "Big and Tall" is. wink.gif
SleeplessInMunich
Just 2 more weeks to go... biggrin.gif
I hope they have enough chicken in to cope for the demand on opening day. wink.gif

Several Germans have mentioned to me their disgust of the horrible drink they tried in the US called... root beer.

I don't think we will see Dairy Queen here any time soon. sad.gif
interplanetjanet
I have a German friend in the States who had never heard of it when he arrived there. He saw a vending machine with root beer and thought, "Hm, they sell beer in vending machines here." He bought one, opened it up and took a big swig, expecting beer. Needless to say, he wasn't very happy about it. Like most people who've never tried it do, he thought it tasted like cough medicine. It's definitely an acquired taste.
butterbean
hmm. I'm guessing they'd really hate birch beer then.

I'm also guessing IPJ is going to hit the Napa A&W soon. And hard...wink.gif

Oooooh, baby! Napa here I come! A&W for lunch and then off to visit Winegirl for some discounted wine tasting. Hm, I could spend a couple days there and alternate between wine, root beer and Blackhawk Stout and Red Tail Ale at the Mendocino Brewing Company. Ah, there's the life...smile.gif

If my kinfolk weren't in town I'd vote for next TT Tuesday at the KFC. Yeah, yeah, I know its scheduled karaoke at GMs.

Im just reminding peeps that KFC is opening next week. I might have to take my bucket of chicken fried goodness on a picnic to the biergarten. Well the second bucket, as the first one wont make it out of the parking lot. Oh and yes I'd probably hide the bucket if I went on a picnic. I mean someone might try and steal it sad.gif

I am extatically excited about June/July now... Previously,  I have had to wait until trips to our Boeblingen office for KFC. .

I hope they still have crispy strips on the .de menu.. mmmmmm
*

Dude, i love crispy strips, cant wait.
kalidas
It doesn't taste that bad but never can it be called great food. It's like Mac or Burger king. It's nice that they are coming but this can't be an exciting news...
Scogs
@ Kalidas

ohh it is if you are doing private research for the next installment for supersize me cool.gif
JumpmanPro
The opening is in less than a week and I'm not gonna be here for it sad.gif They better have a KFC out in Lithuania or Latvia!!! dry.gif
Katrina
This KFC will also be doing the free refill service on drinks.
Saw the first advert for it yesterday, Radio Gong is doing a tie-in promotion with their breakfast show, something about winning pairs of tickets to U2.
Could I swap them for chicken though? Coz I already have tickets. wink.gif
