I am thinking of heading up there after work and seeing what tickets are available. Anyone got any ideas what I can expect in the way of availablity / prices, as would like to get 4/5 tickets?
Trig

sold out bout a week ago.
if u want tickets u godda tout them. But getting 4/5 next to each other is asking a lot.

av had no problems. But i think tonights game will be fairly busy. So dont know how quickly they will sell or what sort of money they are asking for.

Schotte what time are you intending to leave the pub and go on the hunt for tickets?
Can I drink in the stands?

Apr 12 2005, 1:39 pm
Can you see the pitch from the hill? I'v never been up at the stadium but have heard you can watch concerts from there and was thinking about trying to watch the game for free.
boomtown_rat
Apr 12 2005, 1:45 pm
doubt you can see it that well. I think you may be able to see bit of the pitch but watching it on TV would be infinitely less frustrating I think.
Schotte
Apr 12 2005, 1:47 pm
i was up the hill last week, dont think you can see much at all from it, if any.
at augs dave. dunno, not too hopeful anymore. yeah you can buy beer in the stadium.

@ Schotte
Are you still coming for a pint though, aye?
I'm usually quite lucky when it comes to finding things like tickets going for football matches. I reckon one will turn up. It's always easier to find just one!
Schotte
Apr 12 2005, 2:00 pm
well then if you sound so confident why not!
need to check my bank though as i did a transfer between uk and here and so far the money is still between.
i assume the beer garden right next to the stadium will be open can people confirm, seeing as how the weather is ok? guess it will be heaving though.
billybob
Apr 12 2005, 2:05 pm
you can't see the pitch from the hill at all so don't do that
for concerts, people have told me that you can sit on the grass outside and hear it pretty well to save cash - for footie l don't think this will be much use
normally when you are walking up to the stadium you see people selling tix - sometimes they are proper touts but quite often it's just people who don't have time for that match or just want to make a bit of a profit. 4 tix would probably be a problem but 2 or just one should be ok. Price will, supply and demand and all that, probably be double or a bit less
also, the beer in the stadium is alcohol-free, so is a bit of a waste of time, imho

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
are you sure all of it is?
Wibble
Apr 12 2005, 2:14 pm
Definitely alcohol free (or it might be 0.4% as I seem to remeber hearing this once - not that it makes a difference) as this is a UEFA regulation for all Champions League and UEFA Cup games.
Augsburg_Dave
Apr 12 2005, 2:16 pm
Should have brought my hipflask with me then, as I did to most Pools games before they started selling alcohol at The Vic.
I wonder how many little Jägermeisters I can sneak in though...
billybob
Apr 12 2005, 2:18 pm
pretty sure, l know the helles is 0%, not sure if they serve alcoholic
Weissbier there too, don't think so though
there's a smallish biergarten outside the stadium (coubertinplatz) though which does the proper stuff, though it's always rammed
for the celtic match last year a mate of mine was starting to get tipsy on it until l mentioned that he was being a bigger lightweight than normal...
make sure you get to the stadium earlish because the ubahn are completely full and often have no space to let anyone on after sendliger tor, and often there's a real crush at the gates as they, ineffectively, search everyone coming in - can take 20 mins to queue up

There's a good view from the olympia tower.. if your eye sight is good.

Apr 12 2005, 2:51 pm
is their any bars near the ground to watch the game if no tickets materiallise?
crowes
Apr 12 2005, 3:13 pm
i can vouch the beer is 0%, but as you come out the tube station for the long walk upto the ground the little shop at the top of the stairs sells cans of beer. stock up for the walk up and a few b4 u go in.

I have two mates who have come down from Frankfurt to watch the game, one of them can hardly speak and that was half an hour ago. They are heading to the Hofbrauhaus now, so at least one of them is going to be a complete state arriving at the match. What are they like on the turnstiles for turning away drunk people? I have arrived there hallf cut before and got in fine, but never completely bolloxed. Anyone know?

It all depends how drunk you are. If you are stumbling all over the place then you have no chance. If you are drunk and in high spirits, but still able to at least walk then no
