Where to live when working at Freiburg University

Hi all,

We'll be relocating to Freiburg (from UK) in the autumn; I'll be working at the University. We're only surfing for info on rentals at the mo, but I haven't been able to find much in terms of where the better places to stay are.

We're looking to rent a flat of 2-3 rooms in an area that is reasonably close to the city centre to enable public transport commuting. We're not overly keen on nightlife in the neighbourhood, and if it isn't in Student Let Land that'd be great too. Basically I'm interested in views from people living there about which areas best to avoid, and more helpfully, areas you would recommend. Any info welcome.

Hey, I don´t know if you still need information about where to live in Frieburg - if you still do here is some advice. Avoid. Landwasser, Haslach, Weingarten these are definitely not very nice areas, whereas Littenweiler, Wiehre, is great. Every area east of the city center is great although Herdern whcih is north of the city center is also very nice. If you don´t want to live in a student area don´t choose the Stühlinger. Its very nice to goout there but living there comes close to living in a dorm:) Hope I could help you. Enjoy Freiburg - its a lovely city!
