Why don't they have it in Munich?

two questions for the day..

1/ why dont they have greyhound racing over here? they have the normal ggs' and the trotting but no dogs..surely a hole in the market?

2/ why dont the jerries binge drink or is this purely a uk/aussie/nz (oktoberfest) phenomenon...are they simply better educated as to the effects of alcohol or generally shandy lightweights (who know better..?

answers on a postcard pls.

have a good w/e

Perhaps those of Ericland aren't as bet happy as some others I could think of. I think, meister flogger dude, there is no hole to be filled, in this case. Or perhaps Schwein rennen? Hmmmm.

yes but you cant beat an evening at the dogs with a few mates a few bevvies and banter..its the spice o'life...i'm talking walthamstow,catford,wembley...

i mean the boring b@stards dont even have bookmakers at the horse racing here..its all computerised...faceless...lack of 1 on 1 contact...is this typical of german social interaction in general i ask myself...see low birth-rate?

but uncle jerry..sorry jamal..the hun love films like lock-stock, snatch etc...there is a market.. too much kultur here maybe? tongue.gif too many churches, lovely architecture..where's the spit&sawdust!! berlin?
Uncle Jamal
films like Lock Stock bear little resemblance to what we see and hear once those three famous German dubmeisters have done their bit.
Uncle Jamal
bevvies and banter eh? Doesn't seem appropriate for the locals.

...and you stick the fuckin xmas markets up your @rse too its november for ffs!!

the madness has started... all out there today sad b@stards in the rain trying to poke people in the eye with their fuckin umbrellas i tell you... ph34r.gif

Hi
Betting on dog races is illegal in Germany, there are races (in fact a current dog racing world champion is German) but these are for amateurs only. This might answer your first question.
As for the lack of binge drinking, well alcohol is more widely available due to less strict opening hours, has less of a stigma/attraction to the young as it isn't forbidden, you can generally buy food to go with your drinks and the beer tastes nice so you don't have to chuck it down your throat to avoid actually tasting it (I don't mean all UK beers, I quite like a nice Theakston's myself but most of the rest is grim).

Just inspired by that horse racing thread... seeing as I don't consider myself posh enough to fart around at a horse meet up (well actually I have object morally to the idea that horses love to have assholes whipping em) and I used to go to the dogs a fair bit in Dublin. Do they even have this here ?

I'm sure I heard that they do somewhere - might be my imagination. Either way I'm pretty sure that it'll be a different sport than it is in Dublin or London. Now you've said that I might 'ave to get over to Wimbldon dogs this weekend - brilliant night out down the dogs.

I'd love a trip to the dog track, parnell - if you find one, post it.
I know what you mean about the whipping at the horse racing. I don't like to see it overdone. They get fined, though, for excessive use of the whip, I do believe.
We're not posh, anyway, if you want to come along you'd be welcome.

Seems there's none - Dog tracks - Dog racing with Greyhounds

@ Keydeck
That link suggests there is a strong amateur meet thing going. Seems bizarre that they don't allow betting on animals doing something they love to do but allow the equine equivalent with its far crueller aspects.

Gosh that could be the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me on this site. My sister useta always have the horsey set round when I was young ...some I liked but the hunting crowd... seethe.
