Your thoughts on the elephant in the room

Not sure LR is allowed to call it a " Black Tie " event, shouldn't it be a " Tie of Colour " event?

Now that would be a cool idea. We could all walk around with a "How Black Are You" Pantone reference book. When you meet a black person you pull out the swatch book and hold each shade up against their skin until you have the desired match. Obviously you would need to have optimum lighting condition to ensure a good match. Alternatively you get yourself a spectrophotometer and measure the skin tone as LAB values which is far more accurate than visual matching.
Back in day when I was at the university, you had to pass the paper bag test to join a sorority. If your face was darker than a paper bag you were not allowed to join the sorority.

I think black guys are much more expressive when they dance, but white guys seem to love group dancing. LOL

I'll throw one back at you. Do you think the myth about black guys having enormous cocks keeps white girls away or attracted to black guys?
Yes, funny that. You never see a group of black guys dancing together, however, I met my now husband when he was doing the pogo (ha!!) with a huge group of European white guys. i.e. dancing badly. LOL

The big cock thing is a myth?? hmm, guess I dated the "wrong" guys. I know women who are definitely curious about that, and only that (meaning: scared, they ain't!). I tended to go for guys with "mocha" skin tone... the male equivalent of PezMom: attractive, well-dressed, funny (e.g. I'd date Obama). Darn it, they could never cook like she does, though (but could BBQ up a storm)! German hubby cooks -- now that's a keeper trait in a man.

my husband can cook a mean grilled cheese sandwich!

So now there aren't only black people?

You want to make grades within being black?

So, where does your blackness start and end in terms of darkness of skin?
You've just reminded me of a cracking song I hadn't heard in a very, very long time.
Ballistic Brothers - Blacker

Fantastic Gil Scott Heron sample in there about being "blacker than thou" and some great beats. Cheers for jogging my memory.

Jesus man, get over yourself.
hahahaha....wonders shall never end
it is here on TT that i came to learn that some blacks are now escaping their origin
pls don't fool yourself with america,my accent...bla bla bla you are BLACK in and out
as "bluedave"rightly said,` you want to make grades within being black?`'
remember america is not even your country, your great grand parents were africans
and this can be proven by your typical skin color which you hate bc it makes people call you african
this is what we call inferiority complex,....why not order for skin lightening creams and start the transformation
don,t mind them bluedave, whether they make grades or not they will always remain black

For all you guys from the UK that don't get it, there are many shades of black in the states, and "light skinned" is something Americans say to classify one of the shades. It's not derogatory or hateful. Get out more

It seems they have gotten it and moved on. You really just do not get it.

What a load of pretensious bollocks. You think that the US has a monopoly or something.

The UK had black immigrants before you even had a country FFS.

But here, and because a lot of posters reflect views of not experiencing racism in dating in their lives, even the word "race" is seen negatively as people who don't have any experience may say "he's complaining about nothing."
Err thats the point, thanks...

You think somehow if someone says what you're talking about is a non issue, they either
i) have no experience
ii) are blind to the issue

When actually most of us
i) have a lot of experience with racism in far more serious areas than dating
ii) have got better things to worry about than a person's knee jerk reaction to another person.

Saying those two first things to people here who have actually experienced it first hand and have toughened the hell up because of it are just going to see you as a whiny little b#tch...sorry.

It's kind of funny isn't it. He complains about a race writing off another race when dating but then is quite happy to generalise about the thinking of a whole nation. One with a far longer history of immigration than the lifetime of his nation.

Its logical isn't it?

For all you guys from the UK that don't get it, there are many shades of black in the states,
Do you reckon any of that came from people dating "outside their race"?

for all those guys (read Flint) from the US, that don't get it, there are many shades of black in Britain, but we don't try and classify people and put them into little boxes, it would be derogatory or hateful to do so. Get out more
