Hi all,

Greetings from my side..

Is there anyone who plays badminton at the TGB Sports Centre @ Bornheim ( http://www.tgbornheim.de ) ?

I am NOT a good badminton player .. In fact just a beginner.. my intention is to enjoy playing & just keep myself fit..
( Though I go for jogging and work out a little in Gym, I like to play Badminton )

I like to join the club but my concerns are

> Is the place full of very talented / professional players so that beginners like me have to stand in a corner and just watch them playing?
> Badminton timings are very limited > Wednesday(2100-2300), thursday(2030-2200), saturday(1800-2100) and sunday(1100-1500) - so how is the CROWD?
> Is it easy to find a pair to play with OR against? since I don't have any friends who play badminton..

I have seen some related topics in the forum , but are quite old..
So it would be of great help if someone can shed some light on the same..

I cannot say exactly for badminton myself but I have some German friends who I know used to play there and were not serious at all just in it for fun.

Yes the times are restricted but this is a Sportverein and not a luxury fitness company and the membership price reflects that.

I joined the place and started playing. A friend of mine introduced me .
Descent place but a little bit of crowd.. You have to wait for your turn to get the court free..
Its like you play for some 30 minutes and then give others a chance.
And Meantime you can sit and relax
But dont ever dream of playing singles.. because its not fair when lot many are waiting ..
I do not know about Sunday.. They have a longer time slot on sunday.. so probably you can spend more time playing..

I've been going since January... what nationality are you? I thought I was the only native English speaker

I normally go on Wed / Sat / Sunday ..
May be we must have seen each other in the court by now..

I'm living right across the road from the sports centre and was also keen to play a little badminton on a social rather than competitive level. How have you found it so far?? I also heard it was pretty busy there week nights.

I have joined TGB sports club recently...and I also play Badminton and Table Tennis on the weekends..
Its not really crowded on sunday's its a nice place...
