Anyone know of any motorcycling clubs in the Mosel area - within 50 mile radius of Cochem? Contact details would be great. Thanks.
If not, anyone know of the national motorcycle organisations? like the BMC or MAG in the UK? Thanks.

Hi Spirit
I met up with Heinz a couple of weeks ago. Going to do a similar type of venture to you once my house is ready. And not that far away along the river at Bremm.
Maybe we can keep in touch and be of help to each other.
My email is
thsk-38@tiscali.co.uk
Best regards

Hi there, I don't live in Germany (yet) but travel there a lot, and I'm a biker. Benno's Truck Stop in Kaub on the Rhine might be a good place to find out about clubs. Benno speaks French and English as well as German and is a really nice guy. He gets plenty of visitors on a weekend and has loads of adverts for shows etc.You can find him on myspace as well as under his own website bennotruckstop.wordpress.com.
Good luck with your venture. I am keen to know what you think of the Mosel Valley as a place to live as I am looking to move there with my partner and daughter in the near future.
Cheers

Hi Squiff and thanks for the helpful reply and best wishes. I'll contact Benno and visit to find-out more.
So far as living on the Mosel is concerned, so far, we love it! We're in Zeltingen Rachtig, on the middle Mosel, about 4 miles from Bernkastel. I'd characterise it by saying it's a beautiful landscape, the people here are really friendly and helpful, the roads and routes for bikers are really good, the climate is lovely (I should say we were in mid Sweden before this and it was COLD, as in minus 25c in winter), shopping is convenient and easy, festivals are great, wine and beer is cheap. I can't say what it's like for children, as ours are all grown up. The culture is similar to the UK (say more than Sweden at least) but they do have some interesting ways - like sweeping their leaves up EVERY DAY or picking them up and putting them in a bucket, are meticulously tidy outside and drive very fast and very close, almost aggressively (you know, barrel into a situation and THEN think about how to deal with it).As you'll know, you get a lot of property for your money, in comparison to the UK. Oh, and travel back to the UK is easy with Hahn airport and the ferries. All-in-all, I think it has a lot going for it.
Look forward to hearing more about your plans and hope to maybe meet you some day. If you're in the area you're very welcome to drop by for some food and drink and a chat, just pm me.
