Prototype car caught on camera

Any idea what this ugly thing is?

hoohoo88
Was cycling around looking doing some photoshooting when i came across this ugly looking thing. The only clue was the rear lamp. Unfortunately i didn't manage to capture the front, but its too heavily disguised anyway. The front looked like the new Jag Type XF though. Anyone has any idea what this is?

It looks very similar to the BMW 3-series model range to me. I think that you can ignore the whole rear assembly which appears only to serve as disguise. The front wing appears more-or-less original.

I actually thought it was the 5 series grand turismo. But the rear lamp suggest otherwise..

Whatever it is, sell the pic to Autobild.de. It might well be worth a few grand.

Tell them you have a pic of an "Erlkönig".

it is a prototype grand turismo used for testing components.

it'll be worth nothing cos it is nothing special. pictures of the prototype were published ages ago and pictures of the real car have already been released to the press.

Dunno, looks more like the X1 to me.
Mapleleafdude
ok. then forget that idea.

the rear windscreen is too sloped to be an X1 and the car is far too big. Besides, I actually know it is a GT since I see them every day.

you judge.

edit: on second thoughts you may be right. They use pretty similar camouflage pieces for both prototypes so i'm now not certain. The roof line suggests GT but the rear door shape suggests X1. Either way, neither vehicle is special since pictures of both have long been released.

Hmm, the rims do suggest BMW, but the rear lamp looks totally different from that of the Gran turismo.

I think you can forget the lamp itself as a clue to it's model, it's a tack on by the looks of it. If you look at the shape of the rear lamps on the GT in the above pic that OG posted, you can see that same shape in the body work, sans lamp, on the test car you snapped.

its probably just some guy whos in to cars too much and wants a 1-of-a-kind, so hes modded his car up.

tbf it looks pretty good...kinda like a knight rider car for the family
