Unemployed and no money? No chance sunshine, this is Germany, land of crazy social benefits. If you take into account kids, pensioners, and the unemployed, only 1 in 3 Germans actually works.

Actually, while we're on the topic, would I actually get unemployment benefits if I was made redundant? I've only been paying into the system for a little over a year. (Am US citizen)

Dunno what the score is for Americans, or indeed if it actually makes a blind bit of difference, but if you were made redundant, you should be able to get dole.
