Hi
I`m going to Berchestesgaden soon. Do you know if there is a Youth Hostel close to both Koenigssee and Eagle`s nest?
Are the two places far apart?
thanks

Please note:
Age restriction in Bavarian Youth Hostels
Youth hostels are primarily intended for young people. For this reason, individuals over the age of 27 can only be accommodated in Bavarian youth hostels on an availability basis.
This age restriction does not apply to group leaders or families accompanied by at least one minor.
A surcharge on the quoted price is charged to guests older than 27.

Try
Salzburg. You can get the bus to the Eagle's Nest and there are quite a few choices in budget accommodation as it is on the InterRail route for many. Using the searc
h function will also bring up more links for Salzburg.
Alternatively,
mountain huts are cheap but basic.
If I stay in BGL, I could stay at my ex's mum's place for free.

We stayed at Pension Alpina two weekends ago. We organised it via the local tourist information centre online booking. It costs 48 euro a night for a double room with breakfast. They also gave us a tourist card that got us on all the local buses free, cheap connections to Salzburg on the bus, reduced entry to the Documentation Obersalzburg, reduced bus fare to the eagles nest, reduced fares on the Königsee crusises, etc etc.

Seer, have you ever heard of Google? Might be an idea to use it a little rather than expecting everything to be handed to you on a silver platter.

Right you are,
I could stay at either one of 3 sister-in-law's house for free. One lives in Berchtesgaden proper, one in Buchenhöhe/Obersalzberg and the other in Bischofswiesen.

BfA has a cross-border agency for seasonal work in BGL/Salzburger Land:
ARGE BGL - Traunstein
AI TS Homepage
There are a LOT more jobs in winter due to the ski areas in SL, unless you're into forestry, farming or salt.
Let TT know how you get on with your own research as that information could be useful to someone else - thanks!

they only have doubles
It says "Doppel- oder Einbettzimmer". Also, that one appears to be in Reith im Alpbachtal. Were you not looking for one in Berchtesgaden?
Gasthaus Alpina might be a better option.
Google maps will show you how close each are to the various sights if it is not mentioned on the various websites.
