Hey Toytowners,

do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?

According to papa_geno's post in another thread, a number of TT lurkers went to the Munich Poetry Slam.

I also notice that in the "who's online" list there are nearly always more lurkers than members.

So who are these people? Are they spying on us or what?

Or, addressed to the Lurkers themselves, "who are you?".

Just curious.

I noticed that there are a lot of guests online every day. A lot of times even more guests than members...isn't there an option that guests can only see not more than a few threads, so they have a good reason to register?
Simpson
Well, hey, I don't think there's any need to give reasons for people to register! It's a free world (and a free forum! I hope!!!). If someone wants to register and post they can, if they wanna lurk, fine. I was just curious who all these people are. If they wish to remain in the shadows then that's their business. Doesn't bother me that much, although it'd be nice to know who's lookin'. My only message to these people would be, "come on in! The water's lurvely!".
Keydeck
I only log in when I am going to post something or reply to a PM. Otherwise I don't bother so I guess I'm one of those "lurkers".
Malcolm Spudbury
How do you know you've got a PM to reply to, if you haven't logged in?
Keydeck
'Cause I get an e-mail telling me that a PM has arrived.

Otherwise I don't bother
you can set logging on automatically
koala
Guilty as charged, I do the same as keydeck.
I suspect the vast majority of the lurkers are legitimate members who just aren't logged in.
Keydeck
True Sparty, but I clear my cache n' stuff very regularly so automatic logins aren't much use.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I switched it off ages ago cos I never log in to the email account that I registered with. Normally I just check the new messages thingy on the front page after logging in.
Hellcat
yep...also a "lurker" when not posting.

Who cares. The more people the better. I have noticed, the more people on, the more fun we have!

Let's have fun, brothers and sisters!
Hazza
I wonder if the lurkers that haven't registered also come to TT meets and sit in the shadows, observing everybody?
sparty
That is freaky Hazza...like you're being watched wherever you go...
Granny
Is that what I'm supposed to do?
I log in and seem to be there for hours. I click on the links that interest me and by the time I've read everything and followed other links, posted replies, the clock has raced on. Then I return to the thread I was reading in order to make sense of it all.
I really should read that computer for dummies book Opa bought for me instead of using it to press dried flowers??

So, I'm not a lurker but Opa is.
