For all you motoring fans with no idea what to do on Thursday, it's a public holiday in case you didn't know, there is a tour of Bavaria classic car rally taking place over the long weekend, well Thursday to Saturday, starting in Schloss Maxlrain near Bad Aibling on Thursday morning with a Classic car show, with over 3,000 old cars. The rally then starts in the afternoon, and drives around East Bavaria and takes in a bit of Austria, I'm sure that's been done before , including a run round the Salzburgring and then back to Bad Aibling. A good chance to see a lot of classic cars actually driving on the roads, maybe driven in the spirit for which they were intended. (Greenies look away!)

They really have some beautiful old cars and it's wonderful to see them trundling along.

I'd recommend it to anybody who likes cars.

There are some beautiful cars there... pity, that I will not be able to make it...

Ooh, going through Dietramszell on Saturday, that's just a bike ride away, I wonder if there's a beergarden with a view of the stretch? Oooh and the little red car on the bottom right of this page is an MGBGT, just like mine back home...

Last time I went there were quite a few MG's. Actually there were a surprising number of old British sports cars. Jags and the like.

The best part would be hearing the engines actually. You don't get that at a car show when they're all just sitting there. Would have to find a nice curve so they shift down and back up going through... so I need a curve with a beergarden, and it needs to be within biking distance.

Geez. You'll be wanting shade next.

According to the website about a quarter of the cars entered in the rally are British cars. Which makes me a little sad to think that most of the car production in Britain has gone.
