Hi, my boyfriend and I are heading to Rome over the Easter long weekend, and are looking for cheap accommodation in a hotel / hostel located somewhere central. Any suggestions? Being a poor au pair, my personal budget is currently about €30 a night for accommodation...

Rome for a weekend may help you.

Avoid the area around the main station - unless you want a free strip tease from the hooker in the window across the street. tongue.gif
Easter in Rome - it's gonna be tough to get anything; they're usually booked out yonkels in advance. Good luck!

This site might also be helpful. I've used it to find lodging in Amsterdam and Paris, and they have a wide range of prices, and private rooms as well.

A good friend of mine opened a restaurant near the Pantheon, called Romilo. It opened last week, and should be excellent. Let me know if you go there!

I've stayed at this one quite a while ago. Quite nice and in a very quiet area (rare in Rome) but still just a 5-10 minutes walk to the forum.

Hi,
A friend and I planning to visit Rome soon. We're looking for recommendations on relatively inexpensive (about 70 euro/night give or take, for 2 beds in one room) accommodation for a long weekend there, preferably within the main city.

I've been told that the hostels aren't nearly as clean / well organised or safe as they may be in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Any suggestions/ pointers for would be most welcome smile.gif

Is the area around Termini recommended? (I could find some Bed and breakfast places for our budget in this area).

Thanks!

Ciao Romans,

I really need your advice on that.
Here are some backgrounds ,
In November it will be our 10th anniversary of married wub.gif
so i decide to arrange for us a nice weekend in Rome.
She have no clue about it and I'll tell her couple days before to prepare the luggage for an unknown trip.

The advice i need as we never been to Rome is which hotel :
1. Have good location.
2. Impressive (by the way its looks)
here is a list of hotels which I wondering about:

Grand Hotel Plaza
The Inn at The Spanish Steps
The View at The Spanish Steps
Empire Palace

I really liked the look of the 1st one.

Thanks for your help.
