Yahoo! fantasy baseball

Okay, I'm assuming I'm addressing the Ami crowd on this one.

- No team to team trades (picking up and dropping players into free agent pool is the only way to do a trade, so be careful that you don't make a trade and have someone pick up your player who you didn't want to.)

Out of curiosity, why are there no trades and a limit on player acquisitions?

I've been in leagues before where people towards the end of the season trade players if they are out of the running to their friends and stuff. Doing a trade through dropping/adding makes it a bit of a risk and limiting the acquisitions keeps people from always just picking up the hottest guy at the moment. More strategy in this case with your draft rather than just picking whoever and then just picking up tons of guys during the season. This way there is no ganging up on other teams which is pretty petty anyways.

Makes sense! Though if I had only 6 pick ups when I played in 2003, I wouldn't have picked up the hot bat in July... he turned out the be Bill Mueller, the 2003 Batting Champ. Who could have known?

I'm in though, just signed up. What time would the draft be at? I'm flying from Boston to Munich that evening I guess I'm just worried that with an auto draft and only 6 pick ups, they'll be some sleepers left over that I'd have tried for in the draft, but would have to use pick-ups on. Any chance there could be a limit after, say, a week before opening day? Just throwing it out there. This should be fun no matter what!

Draft time... dunno. It's automated, just make sure you have your rankings done the day before or something.

I think leaving it at 6 pick ups for the year makes dumping and picking up strategy better. Waste 4 of your pick ups the first week and you might be hurting come the end of the season especially if you get riddled with injuries since you have only one DL spot. Makes each acquisition more of a decision than if there wasn't a limit. I would even expect a guy who's day to day would be best served sitting on your bench til he's ready to play.

BTW I'm from Boston originally. Born in Stoneham, lived in Arlington and Somerville as a little kid til we moved to California when my dad got a job. Great town, but since I lived in California in the 80's I had to end up hating the Celtics since I had the Lakers as my home team.

Long time Braves fan here. Back in the days when they sucked, all we had was Hank! I will have to work on those rankings before because I will not be doing manually. I think you can do both, but automatic is the default . Still, you need your wishes sorted out in advance.

I did a basic adjustment to the rankings, nothing special. Since I have to miss the draft, this year will be all about luck!

Well, the draft ready was switched from no to yes whatever that means.
I have 98 players ranked and if that ain't enough, I hope it switches to auto to fill in the rest based simply on default rankings. I too thought it was on the first.

Got my players and one has already been demoted to the minors with no outlook of coming back. Can anyone say DROP!

Draft has been completed. Was done on April 2nd for us to allow for an April 1st draft day for people in the US (time difference). Then apparantly once you change draft status, it takes a day for the computer to complete, hence the delay.

I already had 3 injured players... yippee.

Out of curiosity, how'd you guys let AJ Burnett go through undrafted?? Well, don't question my blessings

Autodraft could have been a bit odd, I know I moved him up on my list of wanted players. No idea. Ah well, a couple moves and now I think I'm ok for now.

I would still like a couple of other players, but I am down to one pick. I am ok, but would actually like to have two picks for later on. I do love the two COL guys that I was able to pick up and DETs Inge are going to be great for me I think! (Inge and Gonzalez were high on my original list? Pitchers Carpenter and Vazquez were not!)

Still early, still early...

Holding on to my number 2 spot. I still can't believe Ben Sheets is on the DL with a viral infection. Him and Gagne on the DL. Especially with Baez trade rumors, I'll need Gagne to come back and fill my other RP spot. Wagner and Gagne as my RPs... Not too shabby!

My RP's are also SP's and get their fair share of both playtime. Not three shabby! I am shooting for 100+ points today.

Who do you have starting today, eurovol? I'm assuming you have a starter going for such a high score!

Carpenter and Lopez are pitching today and they both can win, can strike some people out and they both could get complete games. I am also expecting a couple of players to get out of their hitting slumps and do some HR damage. I got the feeling.

I've got Harden and Bonderman going today. Harden can pitch very well, and Bonderman has pretty good K's. However, he's going against the BoSox today vs a replacement starter. The Sox offense will need to put up some crooked numbers to help him out, so I'm not as confident in Bonderman today.

Inge will do his part today. He is do some big numbers. It is also time for Helton and Sosa to put up.

Yeah, you really need to rotate the starters in, as those are big points. If not, just put your best 3 starters in the SP slots, so you don't miss points from the big guys.

And it doesn't hurt to have a big guy like the Dtrain get you five wins and 3 complete games to start the season. heh heh!

Or Harden to get you a CG loss... wait what? yes that's right. He had a complete game loss yesterday. I guess it's not as bad as the time that Sox pitcher had a no hitter and lost... only to the Sox...

My hitters came up big yesterday, but the pitchers lost me my 100 points! Only got 34 or so and no movement in place. But, today is another big day for my team!

My pitchers and my hitters can't produce on the same days. Today is another big hitter day and tomorrow is back to the pitchers, but that only allows me to thread water. Oh well, its still early yet.

You may just get it. I have no SPs going today or tomorrow. But Fri I got 3 going. I'm just hoping I can be in the lead (either still or once again) by the time Friday's games are in the books.

Edit: Just checked, AJ Burnett is going for me today, he's given up 3 ER over 5 IP, but has 8 Ks. He's currently losing 3-0 in the 6th. The hitters have to get going and let him leave the game with the lead! (Especially because I have two of their hitters).
