Kiwistylz:
In order for a starting pitcher to get the win, he must pitch at least 5 innings, leave the game with the lead, and his team must hold the lead until the end. In the event the starting pitcher leaves with the lead, it is held for the rest of the game, but he failed to pitch 5 innings, the official scorer is free to decide who is credited with the win (usually the relief pitcher who had the biggest/best role in the game). For a relief pitcher to get the win, if he comes in with the game tied or his team losing, and his team then takes the lead and holds it until the end of the game, he is credited with the win.
Edit: Just checked, Peavy left with the lead, but this bullpen failed to hold it. It was tied in the top of the 9th, and his team ended up winning in the bottom of the 15th (that's a wicked long game)

FYI - A pitcher MUST pitcher 5 innings to get a win. It's not up to the official scorer. 4 2/3 ain't cuttin it.

HeyFrito: Only the starter must go 5 innings. Relief pitchers can get a win on as little as 1/3 of an inning. I didn't word my official scorer comment very well; If the starter fails to go five innings, left with the lead, and his team held the lead throughout the game, the official scorer will decide which RELEIF pitcher gets the win; it will never be the starter.

Like I said, my hitters were on yesterday. Now if they and the pitchers can do it today, at the same time, I have a chance for some big points.

Ok also wat is an intentional Balk??
QUOTE
May 5 The Akron Beacon Journal's Sheldon Ocker reports Cleveland Indians CL Bob Wickman committed an intentional balk during a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Twins Wednesday, May 4, as he wanted to send Twins 3B Michael Cuddyer from second to third base so Cuddyer could not steal the Indians' signs. "I don't want him calling pitches from second base," Wickman said after the game. "If he's on third, he can't do that."

Wow, I've never heard of that being done before. A balk is when the pitcher hesitates during his wind-up. There's a lot of different rules about what the pitcher can and cannot do while on the mound. When a rule is violated (this is called a balk), the lead runner advances one base. Appearently, he just did it on purpose so that the runner couldn't see what the catcher was calling, and then tipping off the batter to what pitch is coming.

Yeah... crapola. I had a great day the other day with my pitchers, but having all the pitchers go on the same day is gonna be bad. I'm gonna have a big day followed up by 4 days that aren't so good. Hmmm... 2nd place isn't as nice as 1st.

I'm gonna have to have a clubhouse meeting.

HeyFrito: Most likely one of your guys is going to have a day off when the others play (or play when the others are off), get an extra day or rest, or what have you, so in a few weeks, I wouldn't expect you to have 4 starters going on the same day.

Edit: Just checked mine, and it shows a few players as NA, who are definitely still playing. Check the notes next to the names of the players, or Rotoworld.com is another good source. MLB.com or ESPN.com also work, but obviously aren't geared towards fantasy teams.
Anyways, results from yesterday aren't up yet, but HeyFrito and I were in a dead tie at 1079.5 points (I think) going into yesterday. I've got 3 pitchers going today, so hopefully I'll take/still have the lead by tomorrow!

Oh, c'mon, first a complete game loss, now 7 IP, 2 ER and gets the loss. Harden is having some tough losses. That A's offense is HORRIBLE.
HeyFrito, you may have the lead for now, but I'll be back... I will be back...

PES: The limit is 12 teams, and right now we have 10. Not sure if you can still join, but I'm sure no one will mind if you are technically able to. You probably won't have any real good players, since they're all taken, but give it a try! League info is on the first page.
Also, if you can find a Post-All Star Break league, I'd be willing to get in on that one. Maybe others here as well?

Anyone else having DL spot issues? I have put a pitcher on the DL, but now I can't add anyone to take his spot. I can move him on and off the DL list, but I can't add anyone to take his spot once he is on the DL. Very annoying!

\
Edit: I had to place him on the DL not only on the current day, but also go one day ahead and place him on the DL there too. Very annoying!

6 bench slots are distributed between the pitchers and the catchers. I was unaware of any limit to how these bench slots can be used!
eurovol
Jun 10 2005, 10:42 am
There are actually 8 bench spots and two and only two were to be for the pitchers. The batters were to have 6.
The pitcher's bench was suppose to be one RP and one SP.
What happened to this league? Is it still in action? Doesn't it go the the full season? I want also to know if I can form a team next season?
Thanks,

I still keep up with my team, but going several months while others had too many pitchers just messed things up. I added extra pitchers after the All-Star break and jumped 4 places in a month, but there is no way to make up the lost points.
So it is not as lively as our football gang? Maybe next year it will catch on? Who is/was the comissioner? I would like to sign on. Baseball, afterall, is more my thing...

I am up for it again. Hopefully with better results then last year.
Maybe a live draft with the person who finished last picking first?
No way! As I wasn't in last year. Clean slate! Bases cleared. 0-0 count. Top of the first! All that sort of stuff.

Let's play ball.
Like eurovol said there was an issue last year with several teams adding extra pitchers and that resulted in a huge scoring advantage. I think that is a situation that is easily worked out when setting up the league. Yes, baseball does require more attention then football but you can set up your teams weeks in advance if necessary.
Yahoo baseball is now open for registration and opening night is 2 April. I would suggest we set the draft sometime after the end of WBC, 20 March. That will give us plenty of time to add more teams and set our draft order.

Actually I am dropping out. I do not really have the time anymore. I have six weeks to go and there are still quite a few things I want to focus in on. My trip to Florence really changed my perspective on how I spend my time. Good luck everyone.
