I'm an amateur photographer looking to meet other keen snappers to meet up in Frankfurt and do day trips to take some pics of the area.

I'm not a great photographer and Frankfurt isn't the best place to take interesting photos, but with some inspiration from others I'm sure we could do something good.

All levels of ability welcome, though I suppose you would need to have an SLR camera - doesn't mean you have to know how to use it yet!

I have a Nikon D60 and a Holga.

Hi,

I am also an amateur photographer like you living in Wiesbaden. I don't know about Frankfurt but here there are some very nice scenic places where you can get great pictures. If interested please reply me here.

Cheers,

Hi, this sounds good to me, me too fall in amateur category and I am up for it.

What do you have in mind, like getting together and critiquing photos or going out shooting photos or helping each other with photo shop kind of thing or what. I would like to do this, but just have a simple digital camera. I run around town taking photos of all kinds of things for my cityguide and I think they come out ok, but would like help too or some critiquing. Have not got a clue how to use photo shop.

Frankfurt has tons of things to photograph, the Palmengarten all this old jugendstil architechture, all the sculptures in the park, the skyscrapers, the produce markets, or the old churches.

Hi Moondancer,

Well my original idea was to go out and shoot things, but I suppose all of your suggestions are good - we could get together and critique each other's existing shots too.

But, yeah, the group shooting was my main objective. Because we all see great shots and think "I wish I had taken that shot". There's always a suspicion that we could have done just as good a picture if we'd be there, so I like the idea of us all going out at the same time to see who takes the best shots with exactly the same subject matter. Not in a competitive way, but just to show each other what we're all capable of.

We don't need to go out or meet up in big groups - the smaller the better really otherwise we'll end up stopping traffic or looking look a nerdy terrorist organization. So send me a PM if you want to meet up - maybe this weekend?

Maybe for the critiquing idea, someone could volunteer (me?) to 'host' the pictures on their laptop. Everyone can send their pics to that one person and then we could all meet up at a purveyor of fine German beer and take a look at them together.

That would probably need bigger numbers to really work, so let's see how much interest there is.

If anyone's interested in the kinds of pictures I take, here is a little selection of mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/damian_corrig...57607376524166/

OK, so, would anyone like to meet on Saturday? Best when the sun is a bit lower in the sky - say 6pm? In the main train station? How about in front of the Reisecenter?

I have no idea where we should go, so please come armed with suggestions!

Reply here to say you'll be there. If I don't hear from anyone, I won't be there either.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a family from home here this weekend it would be best for me to meet this weekend during the week (after 18:00). But if we wind up meeting this weekend then I will try to come for a couple of hours.

Hi,
the idea sounds great .. I just got a D300 very recently, still learning though. Due to my work I am quite proficient in Photoshop.

Frankfurt itself isn't all that interesting but there are a few good spots. What kind of photography are you interested in? People, landscape, nature, city life? The area surrounding Frankfurt is quite scenic. Maybe we could organize a few day trips during the weekends?

Unfortunately I am out of town this weekend as well as the next one. Otherwise I am available during the week, usually after 6pm or on other weekends.

So, looks like we are meeting tomorrow (at least arialscorpio and I are). I'll confirm the time as soon as arialscorpio gets back to me.

Onlymehere, Ocean and moondancer - are you interested?

Sorry to hear you can't make it rosso. Next time, eh?

Rosso, in reply to your question about my style of pics. Well, here's my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/damian_corrig...57607376524166/

I just want to take pictures that no-one has taken before. Buildings, people, machinery. I'm not interested in postcard scenery shots on the whole because, while there's lots of skill involved in taking the pics, someone has probably already taken that shot before. Having said that, I was in Marburg recently and saw a great scene in the park - an old couple sat on the bench, the lake and a man playing the guitar on the other side of the lake. It was perfect, but I was cameraless.

OK, it's confirmed - 6pm tomorrow (saturday june 6) in front of the Reisecenter in Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. We'll be the ones with the cameras!

Please say on here if you'll be coming. I'll check at around 3pm tomorrow.

PM me for my phone number.
Moondancer
I may be walking around the city for 6 hours tomorrow', so don't know if my feet will take any more than that to be honest. The following weekend is better for me. If by any chance I only have to walk 3 hours in the morning, then I will show up at the bahnhof, but I am kind of thinking that is unlikely.

Hope that is ok.

It's 10am and it's pouring with rain. We're going to see what the weather is like at about 4pm and decide then if we meet, but I'm thinking it might be unlikely today.
famico
Ok, it's off. We won't get nice pics in this weather.
rosso
Hi,

I'll most likely be in town this weekend and if the weather changes which they say it should do actually .. fingers crossed ... how about another meet up? Anybody up for it?
