Wurstteppich - Sausage Carpets from Cologne

These made me smile when I saw them...

First we have "Bierschinken":



And then "Mortadella":



These, and two more similar carpets, were displayed during January at the PASSAGEN design festival 2005 in Cologne.

There were 155 exhibitors which included a mixture of leading manufacturers and young designers.

The Wurstteppich is produced by Flachbild.

I think they're really sweet. They'd look cool in a trendy branch of Vincenzmurr or something. Or you could have one in your kitchen (assuming your kitchen is bigger than mine - not hard).

I'd prefer the mortadella one, personally.

Think I'd fall over pissed after a night out and would try and pick the pistachios out. Not tasty.

Can't decide if I like em or not w/o seeing the real one. Being a sausage lover most likley I will like em. Nice idea though. Very German.

I'm quite partial to the salami one myself. But I fear it would continually make me long for my favourite greasy meat product.
