For my family

mayornaise
hi..everybody,

I'm from Malaysia and looking for an apartment/flat in Stuttgart which is if better near to HFT Stuttgart (70174 Stuttgart) by the end of September. I'm going to do my master degree and I'm going to rent it for about 18 months. Actually I'm going to Stuttgart with my family ( wife and 3 children aged 7,5 and 2). Don't worry we will take care of the house and we don't bring any animals with us. If have any offer do contact me and I'm really need to find the place for them before applying for visas.

Thank you

Just take note- I believe you are not able to legally sign a contract until you are a resident in Germany. If not, it may be that people just refuse to allow contracts for people who do not have residency as they then have no protection under the German law.

Keep that in mind. I think you may have a very hard time finding an apartment in advance from a foreign country, without visa in hand.

However, I could be, and hopefully am wrong.

Is it? ohh..then I should apply visa first and look for an apartment after that. thanks for the info. Not use to the German law but if anybody have trust with me..do contact me. Thanks.

Well don't make assumptions one way or the other. The first thing you need to be doing is talking to the German officials and asking them what they require ect. The problem is they often do not speak English, you need someone fluent in German to help you. You will face this problem often even when searching for apartments as you have found.

So make some calls. They can give you the best advice. But I would not rent an apartment before you have viasas, what happens then if they are denied. That is why I say find out the exact requirements. They may require you come first set up house and bring them a few months later. I do not know, just a thought.

Hi..

I'm already in Stuttgart and right now I will try to find a place for my family (they still at home). So I hope somebody can help me and give me suggetions how to find a apartment for them..I already try searching in internet and buying a Zeitung but the problem is it's quite difficult to understand the language from the newspaper.

And if anybody have an offer do contact me.

I really appreciate the help.

Thank you.

You need to find someone who can help you read the ads, no one is going to list apartments in the English language. YOu will also need the same help when actually meeting the landlords as there is a pretty good chance they will speak only German, or very limited English, and guaranteed any contract you sign will be in German.

When in Germany you must speak German, especially in terms of contracts and rentals.
