Currently we have halted all further training as the City of Berlin has informed us that "Indoor Roller Skating" is against the law.

Roll Britannia is our next event, July 18 & 19 in London.
August we will be having a Roller Disco Party in SO36, I'll post the date when it's set!

We would like to host another game in September, but we will have to have a hall to do it in.
Ideally, we need to get back into our Sports Team hall, where we have been banned by the

Update!

OK, I know this is in German, but I'm posting it anyway... Basically, Bezirk Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is responsible for awarding an annual prize for the best supporter of Girls and Womens sports! You would never know it by the way they have been trying to run us out!!! Well there you go.

Förderung von Mädchen und Frauen im Sport

Anfang Juni diesen Jahres teilte uns der Leiter der Sportförderung, Herr Oßenkopp, mit, dass wir mit unseren Skates, bzw. den Rollen, den Hallenboden zerstören.
Uns wurden mit sofortiger Wirkung alle Hallen entzogen und auf Weisung des Bezirksamtes dürfen wir seitens des Vereins auch nicht in die Hallenplanung für das nächste Jahr einbezogen werden.

Fakt ist, dass es eine DIN-Norm für Rollsport auf Hallenböden gibt.
Die Böden in den Hallen des Vereins Lurich e.V. erfüllen nachweislich diese Norm.
Unverständlicherweise wurde diese Tatsache beim Bezirksamt einfach vom Tisch gefegt, und wir wurden abgespeist mit dem lapidaren Kommentar:
"So einen Sport brauchen wir hier nicht, und so einen Sport wollen wir auch nicht."
(Der entsprechende Brief liegt vor!)

Uns bleibt derzeit nichts anderes übrig, auf Asphalt zu trainieren (was uns aber bestimmt auch nur härter macht, für London :)), was aber auch nur an regenfreien Tagen geht, im Winter wird uns dann wohl Kälte und Eis einen Strich durch die Rechnung machen.

Selbstverständlich bleiben wir am Ball und nutzen jede Gelegenheit die sich bietet, um weiterhin unseren Sport zu machen.
Wir lassen uns nichts kaputtmachen, das wir uns in mühevoller Eigenleistung aufgebaut haben!
Und wir lassen uns nicht sagen, welchen Sport wir ausüben sollen, und welchen nicht.

Soviel zum Thema Toleranz.

Hier könnt ihr nocheinmal nachlesen, was sich das Bezirksamt bezüglich Frauen und Sport gönnerhaft auf die Fahnen geschrieben hat:

Das Bezirksamt Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg hat im Februar 2003 den Beschluss gefasst, sich der Förderung von Mädchen und Frauen im Sport besonders zu widmen.

Unter anderem ist das Bezirksamt Initiator des folgenden Förderpreises:

Förderpreis 2009 für den Mädchen- und Frauensport in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

Teilnahmeberechtigt sind alle sportförderungswürdigen, im Bezirk (geschäfts-)ansässigen Vereine.

Zum dritten Mal schreibt der Bezirk Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg auf der Grundlage der BA-Vorlage zur Förderung des Mädchen- und Frauenports den Förderpreis aus .

Mit diesem Preis soll das Engagement der Vereine, die Angebote von Mädchen und Frauen besser an die Bedürfnisse anzupassen und die geförderten Sportanlagen zu verbessern, anerkannt werden.

Wir würden uns freuen, wenn auch ihr Verein aktiv im Sinne des Mädchen- und Frauensports tätig ist und sich am Wettbewerb in diesem Jahr beteiligt.

Great news!! We had an engineer test the floor in our Sports hall, and, turns out the floor is PERFECT for Roller Sports!!!

All that said, we are throwing a big party at SO36 on Oranienstra!!! >September 5th, 2009< SAVE THE DATE!!!

We are now looking for interested women for our NEW "Beginners Class", and will start training in September!!!
Next chance at a beginners "Class" is in January 2010! SO GET OVER HERE!!!

I somehow suspect you sang for Manson Youth in mid 80s, then for Jingo De Lunch later on even though your age on here and my math don't match. But it doesn't matter, does it?
One question: a friend told me her friend visiting from USA joined the rollerderby thing once and it was somewhere in Xberg, near Waldemarstrasse. She said she saw there is also an indoor basketball court in the gym where you practice / practiced.
Could you please PM me how it works as in how much it costs to rent the gym etc. I know it's a different sport, but maybe you have the info.

Glad I figured everything out right. It's just a pity I never managed to see you folks live. But in Rome, where I just moved from, Jingo de Lunch are an institution.
The 90 euro thing sounds reasonable, but how does it work to find a free spot? I see they have something called adult basketball, but in our case we'd just like to come when the court is free and play for a couple of hours. I suppose probably the same thing you did with your team.
I'll try shooting them an e-mail. Would be really good to play there as it's just around the corner from my new place.

To start out, you could find a pair of cheap quad skates on e-bay, (I did that when I started)
I would recommend at least a pair of knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards.
Additionally we also use bike helmets and mouth inserts.

If you don't have skates or pads no problem, just mail us and we will
try to find a pair you can borrow in your size.
Wear a t-shirt / leggings to training.
