This Tuesday will be the last "Toytown Regulars" drinking session that I set up. Of course that doesn't mean that the regular event has to come to an end! It does mean, however, that someone else has to take the initiative. You could continue doing the Tuesdays at Murphys, or you could go somewhere else, you could do it on a different day, or you could do Murphy's every second or third week. Anything you like!
If anyone does want to start something then I would highly recommend that you do so in a decisive manner. I created the Murphy's thing last month because I was frustrated with the lack of coordination and the seeming indecision that was going on. Unfortunately I don't have time to continue it. So instead one (or two, or three) of you has to pick a location. Pick a date and time. Then simply make the announcement - giving at least 4 days notice (7 is better) and concise directions on how to get to there. No lengthy discussions. Just do it! If the plan is a good one the people will come. If no-one comes, well, it's no great disaster. Just make a different plan the next time. You need to remember that most people here are not interested in discussing for days on end when and where to meet. They just want to be told where it's happening. A few will complain about the choice of location. They always do. A few will be unable to make it cos they have German lessons that evening or they're booked for a pedicure. But unless someone makes decisions *nothing* will happen.
Fixed dates and locations are good because then everyone knows the score. But changing locations are also good because it adds a new element of interest each week. There are a whole bunch of different people on this forum now. So what would be cool was if there were different events for everyone. Some people like mid-week late night curries. Others don't. Some people like large Saturday "Stammtisch" groups in a Bavarian beer hall. Others don't. It'd be most excellent if there were at least a couple more weekly events, each put together by a different person, each with their own style and glamour. Then everyone can choose which event suits them best.
I think the girls night is great. Hopefully you manage to get another one of those together soon.
With regards Murphy's, the guys from the pub there are still willing to sponsor the Toytown Tuesdays. They will continue to donate 20 drinks on the house if the group continues to go there. So if anyone wants to handle this sponsorship send me PM and I'll tell you how it works.
