Sunday walking in the Munich countryside

Good long walks within the S-Bahn area

Anyone interested in power walking in the beautiful Munich countryside on Sundays at 1:30pm? We will be travelling with the S-Bahn (Innenraum) a short distance and then walking a minimum of 10 km at a steady pace. Good trekking boots, bottled water, motivation and a good mood are just asked for. Just looking to get rid of those xtra spare tires on the waist or hips, enjoy the fresh air and come along!!! All sporty nationalities welcome... Perhaps we can go to a nice Gastwirt for something to eat afterwards.

Hey all, I've got about 4 hours free Sunday and want to go on a long walk/run/ramble. Maybe cover 20-25 kilometers. I was thinking to walk south from my place in Lehel along the Isar a long ways, then cut east or west and make for the furthest out S-Bahn and ride home. Can I hit (oh please) any hills that way? Anybody got a favorite walk of this type? I'd love to go to the mountains but I don't have the whole day so I'll try to find adventure amidst the concrete. biggrin.gif

I'm looking for someone who might be interested in going out for Sunday walks with me once or twice a month. Mostly places an S-bahn ride away. But possibly further out occasionally. I'm married but hubby isn't into hiking. He wants to run or bike everywhere and not enjoy a nice stroll through the countryside. Not really into the group hiking, would rather just go out with one or two other people.

I would be intersted, but would depend on the weather of course. Please post here if you have an idea or plan for this upcoming Sunday (12th Feb) and if weather is good, I'll join you.

To "louise":
I don't have a lot of experience with places to walk around here. But I have a book with some suggestions. Here are three that sound good to me. All three are said to be good walks in the winter.

- a 10km walk from Aying S-Bahn stop that circles back to the Aying S-bahn. This is SE on the S6.
- a 9km walk from Ottenhofen S-bahn stop that circles back to the S-bahn station. This is NE on the S2.
- a 12km walk from Grafrath S-bahn stop that makes an arc through the countryside to Schöngeising S-Bahn station. This is SW on the S4.

I don't know for sure if these are nice walks or not since I've never tried them out but if you are interested in going with me send me a private message. If the weather is too terrible this weekend, perhaps next weekend.

Or a very long 20km+ walk from MarktSchwaben to Ebersberg (S2 to S4) thru the Ebersbergerwald.
In the south of Munich are trails from The wolfratshausen (S7 Line) towards the S5 (Hershing) line that go thru/near Kloster Andechs.
Which is a nice place to stop for a beer/food at the end or your walk. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info, "Darkknight". How long would a 20km walk take? I#m terrible at estimating such things. My husband says a 10 km walk would take 2 hours or so. But he likes to run so he might think I'll walk really fast.

To "louise": If you are interested in longer walks that is fine, too. Just thought a short one might be good to start off with. Just in case either of us thought the other was weird or annoying. blink.gif Wouldn't want to be stuck walking together for 4 hours. smile.gif

It takes me Aprox. 2hrs for 10 and 4 for 20, so I guess your Hubby and I walk really fast. so for you figure at least this time + some depending on your speed. Most of these routes range from flat to slightly hilly. Nothing major..

Hello! I'm still looking for anyone who might be interested is going walking/hiking with me on Sundays once or twice a month. I have sticks and good walking boots that need to get out once and awhile. I will only be walking in areas that can be reached by S-Bahn. Send me a PM if you'd be interested.
