Southside Music Festival, weekend 19-21.Jun.2009 - Munich

Hey Guys

Really want to go to this years festival, just wondered if anyone has been before from the Munich area.

Can't go down until the Saturday morning so would be looking at trains from Munich is it really a 4 hour train journey?

I'll be travelling with a friend who has a disability so camping is not ideal, just wondered if anyone has stayed in local guest-houses down there in the pass and has any recommendations.

Line Up looks great so really hope I get to go.

i live in Munich and been to southside a few times. I've never caught the train. i think the train station isn't too close to the venue? i've always been in a car. in a car the "southside recommended route from Munich" takes 4 to 5hours as well. its not autobahn. If you can get a car i recommend driving to lindau then accross to tuttlingen, well thats what i'd do if i was going this year. Saturday is prob a better day to travel as well because thursday night and friday all day, it can be a nightmare with traffic as most people arrive friday. At Southside if you don't want to tent it or campervan it, accomadtion is too far away i reckon. perhaps you can look into hiring a campervan and driving that would solve you transport and accom problem. when you have to go by train, I know its further to travel but "Hurricane"(same line up) might be better because the train station and the centre of town with accommodation is closer to the festival then the train and accom near southside. i don't know if that helped. my only ather advice is if you travel in a car you will be stopped by police and asked if you have drugs, if you look suspicious they'll check your car also if you drive a campervan they'll check it.

Yeah I drove there too and camped, so the total opposite of what you want!

There is a forum on Southside's website though if you want to take a look there. There's even threads on getting there, sharing lifts etc.

You don't have to camp - one year I stayed at Landhotel Hühnerhof and it was really nice.
BUT it was a motorbike commute, getting on and off the venue in a car will be sloooooooooooow.

Would you consider camper van hire?

Word of advice re Hurricane, there is little or no accommodation available in Scheessel
