I have tried many approaches to learning German and have yet to find something that really works for me. I may have found a method that would work great for me. It's called PDL. With PDL, the center of attention is the person learning the language and what she or he needs to communicate with other people. The focus is not grammar. PDL uses a variety of techniques to help learners talk about their feelings and their identity, and to feel relaxed using German.
As I understand it, no one offers this in Nurnberg. But I have been in contact with someone in Heidelberg who is trained in PDL, and he could come to Nurnberg for an intensive weekend course for a small group of between 4 and 8 people, who don't need to be at the same level.
I'd like to try this, but I need a few other people to fill up a seminar. Is anyone interested in this? If so, please reply and let's see what we could arrange. Cooper

I'm interested. But concerned that my German is very basic and therefore not good enough for this course. Please check if it is for absolute beginners... Thanks

Trbm, I will double check to see if this is for beginners and post something as soon as I hear back from the teacher.
SteveV, the cost would be as follows: an intensive weekend of 18 hours (Fri, Sat, and Sun) for 4-5 people is 800 euros (160 to 200 per person), and for 6-8 people is 950 euros (120 to 160 per person)

re: having people at different levels in the group.
I heard back from the teacher. He told me that it mixing two adjoining levels are absolutely no problem, and that three is possible depending on the group. That means, a group could have people at level for example A2, B1 and B2, or B1, B2, and C1. total beginners at A1 would be hard to include. This also means that you would need a sense of your level of German now, using this standard system.

I would be interested also, but I am on the lower end of the German language scale lol. Still though I am interested, but we'll need a few weeks notice, My weekends are very valuable as I'm sure they are to everyone else so I need time to plan. Anyway seems like a few people are interested and we should get this thing going. I see this post was originally started in May, it is now mid July.

I haven't been able to set up anything yet, but I can offer something else that might be interesting to people wanting to learn German.
On Thursday October 22 at 7:30, I am giving a free talk in Nürnberg at AWOthek about learning another language. AWOthek is at Karl Bröger Str 9, between Aufseßplatz and the Hauptbahnhof. And, this coming weekend, I am going to Köln to attend a weekend intensive Italian course using the PDL method, so I’ll be able to say more about the method in the talk I give on Oct 22.
If you send me a PM, I can send you back a description of the talk. Cooper
