English-speakers living in/near Issum

I'm living in the sticks, near Issum. Issum is located between Geldern and Alpen, and near Kamp-Lintfort. Places like Moers and Xanten and Wesel and the airport in Weeze are not so far away. I would be interested in conversation and meetup.

Hello, I feel your need for English speaking. I too live in the sticks. I'm a Native American English speaker living in Pfalzdorf (outside of Goch). Perhaps we should start a In-the-Sticks Stammtisch.

I asked the one Brit I know around here, who happens not to be a meetup partaker, if she would be interested in coming to a local group if there were one. Yes she said. And what's more, she knows three others to ask. So we could add up to four more to the five we had, if Andy could be induced to attend, to make a grand total of 9. I suppose that would be enough to start a group. I'll keep you informed.

And here was me thinking that I was the only English speaking person near or around Geldern. I'm up for a meet and a drink or two. I have lived in Geldern for around 10 years now, and could do with a good old English conversation...

I have been trying to decide on a good meeting time and place. What do you prefer? Andy in Sonsbeck can only come on the weekend I think. And a Brit I know is working most afternoons and evenings. How about a Saturday at noon? How about Diebels Live in Issum? Or someplace in Geldern? What does everyone prefer?

I don't know about Diebels Live, as I've never been to Issum, only driven past the turn-off many times! For me, weekday evenings and anytime at the weekend are doable. The pub Schwarzbrenner on the Glockengasse in Geldern seems to be very popular. Maybe it will be easier to organise something if we all exchange contact details privately? In the end, I'd be happy to meet up somewhere in Geldern or outlying areas, be it for a coffee or a beer, and a good old english natter!

I'll probably have to contact everyone with the personal messages or in person or telephone, because most don't look at Toytown very often. We could start at Diebels and then try some other places if we want. I'll try to pick a date soon.
