Just to say that they are EXCELLENT ... really!

I've used kennels in 3 countries, and this is by FAR the best...

They house, and train the bomb and security dogs there, so the facilities are top quality, with people who REALLY know about dogs!

short update

I just picked up our Jack Russell Terrier after a 6 night stint at the Frankfurt dog hotel and she seems fine. There were so many more dogs in-house than when we dropped her off last Sunday morning. She had a Beagle in with her which would have been great company.

It was a little tricky to find the place when we dropped her off but a truly great option given we have only been here a short while and needed somewhere quickly to board our dog due to work commitments. They are sending the bill so all-in-all a good place to keep in mind if you need a boarding kennel.

Thanks so much for these reviews. As I will need a kennel soon could you pls tell a few more things about the Dog Hotel? Is it true that you can go there even if you don't fly from FF airport? Do you know if the dogs get to go outside and have a good run around?

I did get a recommendation from a dog trainer for a kennel in a place called Waldems-Esch (www.hundezentrum-rhein-main.com): I will definitely go and take a look, but the cost is 27,50 euro a day. Seems pretty steep to me. Is the one at the airport similarly priced though?

I haven't paid the bill yet as they are going to send it. However, I think it was about 15 Euro a day and then a cleaning fee at the end of about the same amount. The rates are on their site which you can access by the Frankfurt Airport homepage.

The run my dog was in was half inside and half out with a reasonable run area. Dogs are supposedly exercised each day but my German was not good enough to question this in depth when I dropped her off. When she first went in she was in a run on her own but during her stay got a room-mate which should have helped with the boredom.

Will definitely use the Dog Hotel again but will also ensure I taker her bed and some toys as well as the areas are clean and sturdy but pretty bland. Was very happy that we took along her things as it would have been a bit sad leaving her without some of her own things. Have not tried using the Dog Hotel when not flying but believe the answer is yes.

Good luck - I was so happy to see my dog in good condition after her first boarding stay in Germany

Sorry for my late reply. Your info was really useful. We got our dog from a Tierheim in Frankfurt earlier this year. This is the first time we will be away for a week without her. I suppose the last thing I want is for her to be in an environment that could "remind" her (not sure if dogs have that kind of memory, but still) of a shelter. As there are no website or images of the Dog Hotel I wanted to go & see it, but then I came across a place to the north of FFM, Hundepension Waldhof.
I went there yesterday and was very happy with it. But I'll definitely check out the Hotel another time.

Dear pinscher
I was just wondering about your experience with the Hundepension Waldhof. Is it a reputable place? Also, if anyone has used the Dog Hotel at the Frankfurt Airport lately, I would love to have your opinions as well. Thanks.
