Skydiving sites in/near Frankfurt

Where to jump out of a perfectly good airplane

Dathai
Hi,

I thought I'd be able to finish my licensing before I got posted to Weisbaden but the weather in New England hasnt been the greatest. Does anyone know of any skydiving outfits in within an hour or two of Frankfurt.

Thanks
HEM
If you look at an ICAO air map you will see that there is pretty massive restricted airspace "C" in the Frankfurt area...

This link might just be a starting point for you...

Actually a better page is Here. Its a map with all Skydiving sites in Germany. None of which are in Frankfurt Area. The closest is about 80-100km away.

Thank Guys,

Do either of you jump...the distance to the jump zone actually isnt too bad as I drive 80km to get to the site I presently jump from.
Darkknight
I've only done it twice. It's deff. a rush..

How much licensing / cost is involved in getting started? Like fishing / golfing / sailing / shooting /driving?

When I went tandem in NC, you show up, pay, watch a video, then get on a plane... Most amazing thing I have ever done.

From what I've heard its about the same here, but the prices are higher.
Dathai
In Massachusetts its about $2,500 to $3,000 to get licensed (25 jumps). After that it costs $25 to jump from 13,000, gear rental (not common in Europe) is $25 per jump. A set of gear can cost from $4,000 to $6,000. Not sure what all of this is in Euros yet but i imagine I'll find out. To be quite honest I've never found anything quiet like it, very relaxing.

Put it this way - I wear a parachute but I'm only going to jump if my glider falls apart around me which is fairly unlikely to happen...

Certainly it will be more expensive here; for a start aviation fuel costs more than in US.

Tandem jumps are usually offered at € 120 to 160. Licensing is comparably cheap, typically around € 1500 to 2000 for the theory and 23+2 minimum jumps. Single jumps after licensing range from € 18 to 30 depending on aircraft and height. Plus € 15-20 Euro gear rental.

So pretty much the same.

(above prices taken from some skydiving school near Krefeld)
Dathai
Thanks Kato, as you siad its pretty comparable. I'll keep it in mind
