So, "with the notable exceptions of cock rock, country and pop" what music do you actually like? You said "most" before, but that's just a teensy-weensy bit vague.

I think the notable exceptions sadly cover a significant amount of the music produced these days which leaves some good stuff, for example, and I'll cover a wide-ish spectrum here, Jeff Buckley, Ben Harper, Pearl Jam, Pixies, Led Zep, Buena Vista Social Club, Foo Fighters, Finger Eleven, Soul II Soul, Black Uhuru, Dub Syndicate, Stereophonics, Our Lady Peace, Supergrass, Culture Shock, BRMC...

You don't like "cock rock", but like Led Zep??? Bobby Plant put the cock in rock!!
"Squeeze my lemon till the juice runs down my leg, squueeeze it so hard, I fall right outta bed"
Won't be able to get that riff out of my head all day now...

Hold on, Robert Plant, legendary singer of legendary band that made legendary tunes such as Ramble On is being likened to Joe Elliot, poncey glam rocker of poncey glam rock band Def Lepard who made shite tunes like Animal and also to that little Finnish gothic twat from that teeny rock band who made a song about how He's "been Seeeearchin'...YAWN"???
Don Riina, stick to cooking.

Don - I hate you now. My brain has now gone into Internal Jukebox meltdown

Anyway I made a major mistake this week and bought The Darkness for Herr Indoors - it is now on a non-stop loop
I would go to see them though.

Very good gig last night at Zenith. After my previous visit there to see Def Leppard it's now clear that the sound there is pretty crap. Other notable observations were that the majority of the crowd were very young, always remember to bring plenty of cigarettes as there's none on sale inside, the cloakroom people are good for a laugh and the sandwichs on sale are pretty gank.
The support act were a Californian foursome called Trapt. I was not impressed. It was your standard garage hard-rock sound which you'll hear from a million other bands. The lead singer was, in my humble opinion, so far up his own arse that he was practially turned inside out. Good lead guitarist but that was about it.
The Rasmus rocked! The lead singer has a commanding stage presence and gets the crowd going with only minimal effort. Going into the gig I only knew a couple of songs from MTV and a couple I'd downloaded from the net. I'll be buying their new CD this lunchtime. Simply because they deserve it. The playlist was well mixed and they finished 'normal time' with their hit "In The Shadows" to what could only be described as a rapturous response. My ears were ringing for about an hour after with the screams of a couple of thousand teeny voices. They did an encore set of another 3 songs which were delivered with the same energy as the rest.
Top stuff and I'll be keeping an eye out for them again.
